| | | All I've gathered from this thread is that Ophie's an agitated fanboy.
But a horror movie based on a Raincoats song would be heinous.

| | | The sad thing is, I'm not even that bothered about Hole. I object more to the makers of Juno not being put into care, let alone being allowed to make more films, than I do the use of Hole's music. |

also, before the internet, you could really tell who was who and who was really like you by the bands they liked. it was a bit of a classification system really. oh if you know who king kong are, then youre a-ok with me. (i mention them because they never got popular but bands like mountain goats did post internet)

| | | It's a natural enough response though. I'd love for a band I liked to get big, but if it's off the back of a TV show or something, then people are buying into it because of the TV show, not because of the music. It might seem snobbish, but I'm sure that someone who picks bands up from TV and movies has a totally different experience of them than someone who hears about them by word of mouth or even through the music press.
I used to think it was selfish too, but now I'm less sure. I'm beginning to understand why people don't like it. |

I don't know, I saw the oscars this year and Diablo Cody had "flash in the pan" written all over her skanky outfit.

I used to think it was selfish too, but now I'm less sure. I'm beginning to understand why people don't like it. | i have heard songs on movies and tv shows that have introduced me to really good music. the tv show or the movie led me there. but the music and the artist kept me there. and the same goes for the internet. and hell even KR. it really is about the same thing as word of mouth or magazines. which have led me to good bands also. i think this point has already been touched upon in this thread. but, i think you would be lying if you said you did not get introduced to a good by band the tv, internet, or a movie.

My problem is that they say condescending shit about it and are like "Oh that's so cute, it's really quirky". It's the same sort of people who call in and win concert tickets on the radio see a band and then they don't even sound excited. So don't act like you wouldn't get pissed about if people did that about something you used to really like.
You obviously didn't actually read the other thread so don't act like you know me or what I'm all about. Everyone acts based upon what they think is cool, it would be pretty stupid to like things that you thought were lame, wouldn't it? |

| | | Slash and Dash I hope this isnt going to be a slash and dash flash in the pan spagetthi like western film. I dont know if she actually directs but if so I would hope it would be as sophistciated as the retelling of Halloween by Rob Zombie.
I think it was meant to be a piggy back for both the former sex workers, Cody and C.Low. At the time Juno was released was the time C.Lows new Cd was supposed to be out but hence it is a couple of years later and may just come out in conjunction with Jeniifers Body to piggyback.
I did not like Juno to well. To me it was like a TV movie. It had TV sitcom star Tina Yothers TV's big sisters brother Jason Bateman who has starred in many sitcoms, ilcuding the acclaimed Arrested Development which I never saw. Jennifer Garner came from some long running action series and then wed Ben Affleck and got him out of the lime light. Juno was too tv movieish and then all the buzz was over that song those two teenage kids sang.
I think Jennifers Body will try to be a piggy back for Courtneys new CD and vice versa.
Its real shaky ground, slash and dashes are simple and this plot has been done before so may get panned. It depends if there are any twists to the story.
As far as Jennifers Body being on the film soundtrack, I dont know. I think its up to the songwriter who ever actually wrote it ( proabably melody was picked through a catolog provided from the music label and words were added to tie into Doll Parts the next track, I dont know.)
So I guess it would depend on how whoever wrote the song and the melody feels about it. The song tells a story but veers far from Codys vision.
Although I thought as a freshman film Juno was sophmoric and TVish, a little too Miss Sunshine.
Jennifers Body better be big budget with big bonuses or its going to be bust. Besides Cody should have tied in the name of the film to the source it came from the album and how JB was stragically placed on the album itself.
Oh well Im hoping for the best cause I like Cody even though the first movie she put out was too t.vish. Im hoping the nest one will be a sophitcated horror flick instead of another flash in the pan of slasher of about a dozen we get a year to fill the multiplexes. |

i think the movie could be good. yeah, i think Jennifer's Body is a bad name. But, the name does attract an interest, you know. It could be a shoutout to an artist she really enjoys and respects. |

| | | P-P-P-Piggy backing PK havent you ever heard the word in Tinseltown called piggybacking?
In short I was saying
- put song in if songwriters approve (meaning whoever wrote the song)
-maybe stay closer to what the song Jennifers Body is actually about since synopisis of film deprosicption is different.
-Jennifers Body is a good gamble but being used for piggy back purposes which I think is fine. |
