i hope not. because back in the day, a movie was much more shocking and it was a lot harder to get a movie made and distributed. yeah, there were A LOT of horror movies back then, but a lot of them were more original with at least some of their concepts even if they were all slashers and the idea of that kind of horror was new.
and now every idiot with a camera can shoot anything, wrap it up and have released by Anchor Bay or the likes of. back in the day, there were better and more entertaining horror movies compared to the ones that were just too embarrassingly horrible to watch. and now those numbers have flipped. in order to find good horror of today, you have to go through tons of crap to get there.
that and critics aside, it's not just that the new generation of people appreciate the old horror films. when they all came out, they usually got a lot of positive attention despite how bad they were. now, if they're bad, most people will say so. that said, i really hope future generations will not appreciate today's crappy movies like we appreciate the ones from the 70's/80's/90's.
