haha, yeah, see, if I had a gripe about the movie it would be simply that. The fact everything Joker did or planned worked out perfectly for him. Even the whole thing he set up in order to be caught simply so that while in jail he could escape...the most glaring part where he knew how to postition his stooges in order to take down the chopper that was tailing him.
I don't see anything wrong with that, after all isn't he a criminal genius?? isn't that the point?
and don't you know that he and the mob had contact with croocked(sp?) cops in the police department?? obviously the cops tipped him or the mob about the helicopter and Harvey's convoy route and all that. Within the story I don't see any incompatability or implausability or anything like that, it's a good script.
i saw it when I was on holiday this week, pretty good, and yeah heath ledger was pretty damn cool as the joker.
however, come on, it was shockingly dumbed down pop psychology and thought experiments and one extravagant set-piece of over the top explosions and martial arts too many. the mobile phone thing was dumb too.
stuff just kept happening too perfectly aswell, I mean ok, it's not quite a plot hole that the joker would have men positioned on buildings where an armoured car just happened to take an evasive escape route but that sort of thing happened without fail the entire movie.
the joker was great, but to me seemed more hindered by the plot than properly allowed to breath as a character. he seemed most alive when doing simple things like scaring people or reacting to interrogation not when he had to execute some mind boggling plan.
maybe I'm just a total killjoy.
well it's called good writing and a good script, two things very rare in a popcorn movie and yes you are a killjoy for not realizing that.
So. I finally saw it and it was good. Not great but nice popcorn entertainment.
Dark often gets confused with deep.
The Joker was great but I don't think it's much of a difficult role to act. Quirky psycho is always a winner.
Oh. The pencil trick was nice.
I'd love to use it at work.

I don't know what movie you saw but the dark knight IS DEEP.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with all of that.
It's to Ledger's credit he was so great despite some of the ham-fisted psychological nonsense in the script. There were times it just came across as a really pretentious action movie, but he was always fun to watch. The guy deserves all the credit he's received, because with a mediocre Joker, the movie wouldn't be anything special.
As dumb as the cell phone thing was, that Bat-bike is what really bothered me.
Especially since they worked so hard in the first one to somewhat ground the Batmobile in reality. The military built it to jump bridges or whatever. Fine. But having this stupid bike emerge from the wreckage with no explanation whatsoever ruined that. It was like something that would have happened in one of the Schumacher films.

this is so ridiculous, what explanation do you need??? it's an emergency vehicle!!!! there is nothing "schumacher" about it. I don't see anything dumb about this movie, not even the cell phone thing.
I saw it, I liked it, I wasn't that impressed by Ledger. I thought his character lost my attention rapidly the more he said. He needed to keep it shorter and snappier.

Would you shut the fuck up already?
We get it. You love this movie. In your mind it's perfect.
You want to spend the rest of your days on earth buttfucking it until it bleeds. WE GET IT, ASSHOLE.
I didn't realize it was possible to be sycophantic towards a non-living entity like a film, but you're beginning to make me think it is.

that is so retarded. If anything he needed MORE dialogue. He was perfect, deal with it.

I do it because I won't tolerate people coming in here trashin' ma man just because they didn't get the movie or just because their expectations were too high and the movide didn't met them or just because they were predisposed to dislike it because of the hype.
I'm not going to allow it, this is an amazing movie, it's almost 100% perfect if not perfect, the movie DELIVERED EVERYTHING IT PROMISED AND THEN SOME(wich is really rare for a movie nowadays), lived up to all the hype and delivered some more, I mean I could go on and on and on. And I will. Because this movie is the best comic book adaptation and one of the best movies EVER, so deal with it.
