Save jPod

I am not sure if any of you read the Douglas Coupland book jPod but they made a tv show of it here for the CBC and now the fuckers have cancelled it. Anyway the show is great and you should download the episodes. It is pretty true to the concept of the book and has cool Couplandesque sayings and art between scenes.

You can also try and save jPod at savejpod.ca where they have a petition to sign--
Save jPod! — Say No to Steve

It is just so sad when a great show gets shifted in the schedule and moved to Friday night when their key demographic won't even be home to watch the show...duh!

At first I thought "well, I don't know if I'd really want Coupland televised". But then I figured it would have to be better than everything else on TV, so why the hell not?

I got sent a preview copy about a year ago for a focus group thing, and tried to get it canned before it even aired. They didn't heed my advice and are suffering now.

Fuck you Alan Thicke. Fuck you right in your pompous ass.

yeah because when i read a book, it looks a certain way in my head. it's a personal experience. putting it on tv removes the imagination aspect. it means that ethan jarlewski will always look a certain way now, for example. you don't see them writing books about tv shows, so why this way? it pisses me off. they're different media.

it's just lazy. get your own story!

Um... dude, where've you been, people write books adapted from TV shows all the time!

And most stories are pretty similar to each other anyway.

Well you didn't specify good before, did you?

I just think you're being snobbish, tbh. Have you even watched the jPod show?

I'd agree with some of the sentiment. Ideally anything, a book or a TV show, should be more specific to its medium, doing things that only a book or only a TV show can do. But most books and shows aren't like that.

I don't buy this stuff about "oh noes, I imagined things and now someone made a film of it and it's RUINED FOREVER" though.

i'm not being snobbish, i bet jpod is an awesome tv show.. esp if coupland is involved. i just do not want.

That's just ridiculous, really. As if the image will just be gone forever the second someone suggests something different. There's been a few adaptations of novels I like, and I've never been incapable of reading them again without having that image or anything.

Wasn't one of the first things done when video capturing was invented was adaptions of books?
