| I bought the book a couple days before seeing the film intending to read it first but ended up seeing the film quite spontaneously, so I'll have to read the book & compare. I would gather though the film is better on the basis that the book looks like a standard size novel, and the film itself was quite lengthy and detailed.
I didn't realise until after seeing the film that the two kids received death threats! I do remember hearing there was controversy about what they were paid, apparently the director said they were paid the standard rate child actors get....
