notable kubrick scene

so i have to do a scene analysis in my film genre course related to my final paper, which is about kubrick. we're supposed to pick a ten minute clip from a film and analyze it as far as camera work, montage, dialogue, etc. so i was wondering if anyone had any specific favourite scenes from a kubrick film (can't be from the shining, watched it in class).

i've really been procrastinating and haven't watched the films yet that i for the paper, but this is due first so, with suggestions, i'll pick one to rent. i have seen a handful of his films, by the way. just not all and i might be missing out on something really worth showing.

-The candlelight dinner scene from Barry Lyndon (I think a new camera had to be used for the filming of this scene...Barry Lyndon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
-The scene in which the space travelers go to meet the monolith on the moon (2001: A Space Odyssey)
-The perspective scene in which Alex loses his mind near the end of A Clockwork Orange
-The clip around the scene in which the missile is unloaded in Dr. Strangelove

The ending scene from Paths of Glory, where the German hostage begins to sing that folk song...I remember not thinking much of the movie until that scene, it really stuck with me.

You could also do the last scene of Full Metal Jacket. That one might work better from a film analysis point of view.

This isn't 10 minutes, but confirms Sellers' and Kubrick's greatness to me:

The confrontation scene in Eyes Wide Shut--namely because it probably hasn't been done to death.

as much as i'd love to, it can't be the shining, vegyrex. :S thanks anyway though!

i really can't decide now. i think i'll have a kubrick night and watch a bunch of his films before choosing. i'll keep an eye out for these suggestions though.

tom cruise makes me really uncomfortable. not 'cause he's a scientologist, but after seeing him in more recent interviews he just makes me uneasy. i really should use that film though in the paper 'cause i'm going for ones that span kubrick's career. i have to pick 5 so if you guys have any suggestions on that too.

i was thinking (can't include the shining, mind you):
spartacus
2001
a clockwork orange
full metal jacket
eyes wide shut

D'oh! I reread your first post. Sorry.

In that case, here's one from 2001

I have a 2001 book somewhere, with all of the original illustrations/scenes in it...God I love that movie! I love the colors in Hal's death scene...

The ritual scene from Eyes Wide Shut.
Love everything about this scene. This the G rated version.

The longer R rated version is on YouTube.

I think the movie for me that grows on me is Barry Lyndon, it is pretty complex and gorgeous. Although 2001 is probably one of my all time favorites as well...

I haven't seen Barry Lyndon, yet.

I have to rectify that oversight.

that's brilliant as well. i'm going to have trouble deciding now, unsurprisingly. the scores in his movies are so perfectly fitted.
