I watched it for the first time on Friday night and I really loved it.
parts of it reminded me of Velvet Goldmine and Rocky Horror and A Clockwork Orange and the soundtrack was great, so it's definitely become a favourite already.

Anyone else seen it?
I love love love this film. My mom even saw it when it came out.
It bombed upon its release, but picked up a cult following after being re-released for midnight showings later in the '70s. Sadly, Brian DePalma doesn't think highly of the film.
The music is fantastic! I particularly the Alice Cooper stage theatrics and Beef's introduction on stage.
For a Rocky Horror connection, Jessica Harper, who played Phoenix, also played Janet in Shock Treatment.
ya the clip you posted is my second favourite number in the film. It's so creepy... it reminded me in a really weird way of the scene in Interview with the Vampire at the Theatre des Vampires (if you've seen that.)
best number is definitely the opening one though...I'm listening to it right now on my computer

It's been a while since I've seen Interview with the Vampire, but I do know what scene you're talking about. When I first saw Phantom of the Paradise on HBO late at night years ago, that scene was where I came in. So visually startling and definitely creepy, it made an impact on me.
The film and music are so beautiful, dark, and tragic. I love the tension of the film's climax, particularly when Winslow is racing down the hallway, his cape flowing behind him to save Phoenix.
