I just recently watched both seasons, and I really liked it. Unfortunately, I let Mr. Wildwoman be in charge of the new cable when we moved, and we no longer have showtime. I've never done any of those downloading-tv-from-the-internet things (I got the first two seasons from itunes, which I'm sure makes me a huge dweeb, but in my defense, what I wanted them for was amusement on my new, longer commute). Everytime I try going to one of those sites my computer freezes up for 10 minutes and then my anti-virus software claims to have just narrowly saved me from a fate worse than death.
Michael C. Hall is a god among television actors. David was my favorite character on Six Feet Under, and yet from moment one of Dexter I never felt like I was watching David Fisher as a serial killer.
It has so many nice little small things - for some reason, I love this plot development all out of proportion to its importance or the time it took: When we find out LaGuarta's big promtion came about because she basically got lucky at Doakes' bust, she asked him if he every told anyone about it, and he was all "What? We already talked about this. I'd just look like a whiner." She didn't climb over him for the promotion, he wasn't seething in rage about it, and she wasn't even asking if he told anyone because she was afraid it would get out. That was just so awesomely original.

this is so true. i mean, sure, the look change probably helps a lot (tanned, toned up and all) but really they look like to different people. i LOVED david and i love dexter but it really doesnt even seem the same person. he's so good at it.
Holy fuck. Just watched the last two episodes of season 2! Brilliant! It's odd how i felt serious anger and hate towards Doakes, Lyla and surprisingly Dexter for the first time, but at the same time also felt bad and sorry for all of them too. Throughout most of the season I was all about backing Dexter only, but I really found myself caring for those other characters by the end.
Also, Deb is still awesome.
My other favourite Deb quote was "Are you trying to fuck her or set her on fire?"

Ha! I love Deb too. I love the part where Lila's trying to look for Dex at his office and Deb says to her, "I think he lied to you. Oh, men are such pigs" and just excitedly waves goodbye at her when she leaves.

I've watched half of the second series (the second half is all on sky+) with my Mum and we're obsessed with it, we've bonded over our dislike of Deb's.
I've enjoyed the second series alot more than the first, which is saying something because I loved that alot.
They shot that last episode of Dex at my apts the week I was moving in. (the apts where the pimp/dealer lived w/the drugged-out ho on the couch. If you catch it again, from the point where Dex's sis is out in front of the gates, to the Orange apts (the one upstairs is mine). The pimp's pad with the lime-green walls is still vacant btw. Has a great view though.
It's NO fun having anything shot at your home though. Sucks balls, actually and the film peeps are total assholes. And I didn't even see Michael C. after all that. My friend did though, when they moved filming to Home Depot.
okay well i definitely take back what i said about liking the books more than the show. the second season is so amazing!!
i just finished watching it last night. the doakes storyline was really interesting and probably the best part. i even started to like deb a bit by the end? haha and it was good how rita became a lot more independent and stood up for herself.
can't fucking wait for season three.
I take it back too...they are completely separate...fucking love Dexter!
