| | | well, i'm on episode five of season 2 and i have to say season 2 is sortof taking a dump on season 1.
Deb is SUCH an idiot, i mean, such a bad character. sad, dumb, insecure, and WHINY (when my dad this/daddy was a cop that), and pretends she has this badass cop edge with her pottymouth and lame threats, but man.. she's a bad actress.
doakes and dexter on the other hand, are very clever. the sub-plot with doakes is good. and rita is getting boring.
and i saw the whole ice-truck killer thing TOTALLY reveal itself when the character was first introduced -- he just felt like the killer, and Perry felt like a dramatic obsessive, much like John Mark Karr (a story that would have been in the media at the time).
lila doesn't bother me yet, but come on -- the dark haired badass biker lolita with a heart of gold? haven't we seen this character a million and one times? but the chick who plays lila looks just like a cross between Yoanna House (from america's next top model/the style network) and Nigella Lawson (tv chef)
i think the writers should go deeper into Dexter's character and past, and focus less on introducing new characters.
is it just me, or do alot of shows fail when they start intoducing new characters in secondary seasons? |

| | | deb used to be incredibly annoying in the first season, but by the time season 2 ended, she, in my opinion, is more likable and less whiny. she's more confident than ever and i found her pottymouth and childish attitude more endearing.
orchestral, since you are still on episode five, i won't give away how she discovered her new found confidence, but by the end of this season dexter will depend on her more than ever.
deb is actually one of my favorite characters, and despite what most people think of the actress who plays her, she fits perfectly into the role (have you seen her in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose"?)

| | | so i'm on the episode 8 of season 2. this is as far as i've seen online.
how far is the show in real time? like, is season 3 currently airing, already aired? was season 2 halted mid-season due to the writer's strike?
is season 2 ep 8 the end, i guess i'm asking. or has more been released?
and did the not totally change the actor who plays Cody? it's a totally different kid in some episodes.

| | There's 12 episodes in season 2. A lot of the things you mention turn around towards the end, so, yeh, keep watching
The last 3 episodes of the season make it worth the mess in the middle.

| | | In episode 11, deb unknowingly keeps dexter from turning himself in.
in episode 12, she saves him from the fire (or at least puts the flames out on his head and helps him up)
The final monolgue is as follows:
Not long ago, I had a dream that people could see me for what I am, and for a brief instant in time, the world actually saw my bodies of work. Some even cheered, but as it turns out, nobody mourns the wicked. Sorry, James. I think Harry knew that from the start. That's why he gave me a code. It cost him his life, but it kept me alive through incredible trials. The code is mine, now, and mine alone. So, too, are the relationships I cultivate. They're not just disguises, anymore. I need them, even if they make me vulnerable. My father might not approve, but I'm no longer his disciple. I'm a master, now; an idea transcended into life.
I got a feeling judging from that, deb (and rita) will be more important to him than ever. I can't wait for next season; hopefully the writer's strike will end in time to shoot.
oh, and deb's line: "Put out an APB on Lila West aka Lila Tournay. 5'7", black hair, pale like a fuckin' corpse." Priceless. |

| | | Greatest show ever.
I didn't know there were books?
Michael C. Hall is flawless in this show. I am in love with him as an actor.

| | | I love it. Yeah, all of the actors pale in comparison to Michael C Hall. He makes it worth it though. I just saw the last episode on disc 4. I hate Deb, she talks like her lip is stuck to her teeth or something. Actually it's all pretty boring except for Michael C Hall.

| | | Sorry to bring up an old thread but this is currently my favorite t.v. show. Michael C Hall's narrating is brilliant, among many other things. This show is just so exciting to me. I love how all of the characters have a significance in the story which keeps it from being boring. Season 3 airs September 28th @ 9pm on Showtime, I cannot wait! |

| | | Dexter really is amazing. I was scared coming into this thread incase of spoilers, so I only skim read it.
I'm about half way through series 2, maybe more than halfway actually, but it really is seriously intense and brilliant.
Lila is sooo fucking annoying. Whats with her accent? I thought she was a shitty american actress who exaggerated it, but she actually is English? ANNOYING!
As for Deb, I don't get the hate. I find her hilarious.

| | | okay well i definitely take back what i said about liking the books more than the show. the second season is so amazing!!
i just finished watching it last night. the doakes storyline was really interesting and probably the best part. i even started to like deb a bit by the end? haha and it was good how rita became a lot more independent and stood up for herself.
can't fucking wait for season three.

| | | i love this fucking show. i watched season one a couple weeks before season two came out (dont have cable so i watch it on dvd) and when season two came out i watched those back to back for two days.
it's so interesting. everyone feels like a stranger with a mask on, so i think its relatable. its just hes a much more interesting stranger than most.
