6-6-06 as a crappy marketing ploy

Another lame ass horror movie is coming out next month. The Omen, (which incidentally is a remake of The Omen, a cheeseball but memorable 1970s horror film,) starring Julia Stiles and whoever else. It's being released on 6-6-06 and because it's about Damian, the son of satan, they're playing that date up to no end.

Does this shit annoy anyone else? Or is it just me?

For one thing, I am so sick of remakes. Everything in Hollywood is a remake or a sequel or a prequel or a re-hashed version of someone elses idea, like a TV show from the past.

There's allegedly this other horror film called Hatchet that's coming out, which looks like it's cool, but NOT being a remake is it's little schtick and that's lame to me. check out the poster:

What'd ya think of that?

Hear me out.

I detest horror remakes for the most part, especially those that try to somehow emulate the greatness of films like The Omen.

But I heart Julia Stiles, I really think she's great.

A serial killer with a paper bag as a mask...I don't fucking think so. Besides, teen slasher flicks are sooo late 90's.

haha my thoughts exactly.

Another movie that is doing this is Jesus Is Magic (by Sarah Silverman), which is being released on DVD at that date.

I agree with Orchid, I would love a new and original movie to come out instead of the people involved relying on a movie's past success to bring in more sales.
