i think this is coming out this friday. i am excited to see it!! i don't really know what's it about quite honestly, aside from 60s music and some teenagers hugging in a field or something like that, but hey i love 60s movies, so i'm totally there.
anyone else looking forward to this one? heard anything bad or good about it?
It's based on Beatles songs, or rather, the songs are integrated to work with the story....whatev, I really wanna see it, I just hope it's not too weird that it makes no sense and thus, sucks.

oh i didn't know this! sounds interesting. i could definitely see the possible suck factor, and honestly i am not a huge fan of evan rachel manson, BUT... it still looks cool.
me too. normally i don't like beatles covers unless it's something drastically different (e.g. joe cocker's take on 'with a little help from my friends'), but the movie had some really nice versions. sean penn was amazingly good. i loved when he busted out with random beatles facts haha.
The trailer looked pretty cool/interesting, but it also looks like something that would be a piece of shit as a whole. I'd probably end up renting it since I don't like paying $10 to see a movie I am unsure of.
I will most likely watch it, but mostly just to complain about what a bad movie it was...... and how dare they use Beatles songs. I seen a clip with Bono singing "I am the Walrus" and I threw up alittle in my mouth. I fucking hate Bono.
Um... I want to see it. I want to hear the songs. I'll probably cry. but it seems a little heavy-handed. Calling the lead guy Jude? It's all a bit... literal, really. I want it to be more subtle.

Maybe I'll eat my words when it comes out and I see it but that trailer made me cringe a bit. Especially the lead character being called Jude and the way some of it looks like a musical in the bad Catherine Zeta Jones Chicago way. It might be good though.........when does it come out?

you're from ky-- have you ever been to abbey road on the river in louisville?
I think it looks awful. I admire Julie Taymore as a director because she takes a lot of risks but I also kind of hate her because she is often given very great projects and she tends to ruin them with absurdity (Titus, Frida) and this one looks worse than those two.
Like I said, I admire her ambition but despise her quality.

Well Taymore is never subtle. Some people love that about her. I'm just glad there is at least one more female director getting good work. I think Taymore has it in her to get an Oscar nod in the future. Not with this film but something down the line. She's gonna get one of those body of work nominations. I don't think she'll win but that depends on the picture really.
