Don't tell me it's because she's Jewish, or because she's "controversial", just tell me what's funny about her jokes. I can sit through whole performances and not even crack a smile.

I just don't get it. I WANT to get it, believe me, as I'm rooting for more women in comedy, but I just don't.

I was first subjected to her brand of humour when she did the opener of another ceremony that had this song all about shit, arse, balls and piss. It went completely over my head. Why????
She's foxy but that's about it. I really don't get her but I initially thought it was just an American thing I didn't understand.

its like, in denmark there is this guy (mads vangsøe) and he gets hired for some pretty big things (the crownprinces' couple culture award show) and he is just not funny. after some of his jokes you could literally hear a pin being dropped on the floor because the audience didnt laugh.

her comedy is based on being completely inappropriate, but not serious. have you seen her dvd "Jesus Is Magic"? HILARIOUS.

Her delivery seems really off too. Like, it's not just that her jokes are lame, but her mannerisms are kind of awkward too. And not in a good way.

i think her irreverent personality is cute & i like that many of her jokes are self deprecating. but i can admit, she's very hit or miss.

i loved her show, but every time she broke out into song it was almost always lame.

she's charmingly politically incorrect.
i do think that if she wasn't so cute and kinda pretty, then almost half of her material would just be really offensive.
and she can actually sing, probably better than briffffffffffney.

yeah but i think shes a bit gimmicky in a way? like, her gimmick is that shes rude & crude etc and that shes a woman and that we should all go OMG because of that.
but really i would just rather not hear that kind of comedy from anyone. i mean i thinnk most people have moved beyond the realm of the crass.

I agree. Surely we're more sophisticated now? We moved beyond "slapstick" in the 80s, I think I've had it with "shocking" too now.

She is very, very cute — unlike most female comics who go for that goofy look. I'm sure this is some kind of novelty factor.

I didn't find her dig at Prison Hilton funny at all really, which surprised me, as I found the rest of that drama hilarious.

Yup. Her VMA performance was horrid, wasn't it. She was trying to move into insult comic material, which really should be left to Lisa Lampanelli and kept away from big awards shows.

It's hard to explain the humor behind a joke- I've never been successful at that, but I recommend Jesus is Magic because, really, that's the only time I've found her funny. She mainly insults herself instead of making awkward jabs at others. She has quite a few lines in the dvd that made me laugh, and that's appeal enough for me in a comedian.

exactly. shes gimmicky, novelty, has a "thing", whatever you want to call it, and i dont think that that kind of humour has a lasting effect, if any at all. shes just all LOOK AT ME IM A JEW and LOOK AT ME IM A WOMAN and EVERYONE LOOK IM BEING CRASS THE WAY MALES USUALLY ARE ISNT THAT SHOCKING?!??!

Okay, I just watched the VMA thing about Britney and Paris and 50 cent.

Still not impressed. What was that coochie impression she was doing with her mouth? I don't get it. Zzzz. Nobody was really laughing in the audience either. There's way too many pauses when she just stands there going "Wow... awesome... wow, y'know... amazing."
