| | | I am a ginger girl and I LOVE it! Although I do get asked if I have ginger pubes all the time (they aren't massively ginger, they are more brown with a ginger tint)... I mostly got bullied by my sister growing up (she isn't ginger, no one else in my family is) about being ginger- it didn't really happen at primary school because I was quite the fighter, so no one ripped the piss out of me. Didn't happen much at secondary school because everyone thought I was a crazy drug addict. It does happen occasionally that people say rude stuff about you being ginger, but it honestly couldn't bother me in the slightest. I would rather naturally stand out then melt into the background. I do worry about ginger babies though- I would love a ginger girl, not so much a ginger boy. Its true what he said, I wouldn't like to date a ginger guy either- it would feel a bit like incest! Although after watching that show I felt bad and was like "I would date you! If you tidied up your hair a bit". I felt his hair being one step away from a mullet probably didn't help him. Neither did working in kids TV. When I hear kids TV, I think paedophile. |

| | Ginger and proud. Thought I would share a photo of my gingerness to swear allegiance to the cause. Although I cropped my face out of it (a la medical textbooks) cause posting full pictures of myself on the internet seems a bit weird: |

| | | I love me some redheads.
My ex is one, they called him 'red bull' a bit because of his pubic hair being red lol. I always told him his hair is like gold. Best hair colour ever. |

| | ok ill try to retype but probably forget tonnes of shit.
im ginger and im pretty happy with it tbh.i never had much problem at primary school [accept being picked on by the teachers in lesson because I was the one that stuck out most] but secondary school there ws soem nastiness and name calling. ginger pubes and 'giiiinnggga' seemed to be the favorites. It never botherd me too much though its like ‘well done, you’ve publically identified my hair colour, this demonstrates your not colour blind but in fact a bit of a twat.’
Im really interested as to where this gingerphobia has arisin from.it really really intrigues me people can get so defensive over a hair colour.just seems realylrealyl bizarre.
Id never change the colour of my hair to suit the majority.ive dyed it once or twice but only for the reasons everyone else dyes their hair.but because of the colour follicles in ginger peoples hair,it makes it very difficult to dye hair without it going awfullign wrong or washing out after one wash.
Ive asked numerous hair dressers about dying my hair and each n everyone of them have outrightly refused to do so.they say how much the love all the different shades and how so many customers go to them asking for ‘redhair’ and you simply cantget it out of a bottle.
I can understand what the guy means about girls having it very different to ginger guys. An I can see why. I found it very intresting what the psychologist said about the attraction to women and how women don’t really find ginger mene attractive because pale and pastyness is seen as a weakness.whereas its seen as something to protect in women.that must be fraustrating.
Its weird though about the gingerphobia inengland. Ive been to America and in newyork peple would stop me in the street to compliment me on my hair colour and how unusual it is. So id love to know what set it all off?
Addmitdly, I have said before I wouldn’t go with another ginger boy,but some are very attractive and beautiful. But generally ginger boys aren’t,but when u find the gooduns PHWOOORE.
I don’t see the hatred with the pube thing either. I mean pubes aren’t particualry attractive whatever colour they are in my opinion so its not really an insult.
I did find it hard getting with people when I was younger, but I think that’s just young teenage years. I met a group of 25 yr olds at a festival when I was 16 and two of the guys said; you may have problems now,but belive me the attitude towards you will completely change.’ Ive never really had a problem with men,but really, you notice when that change happens and now ive had my fair share of the pick of the crop.which im very thankfull for. I spose its all down to attitude and confidence really though too.
Im proud to be ginger. Its just cause people like to reject the unfamiler and minorities are easy.but seriously guys,it’s a haircolour!!
sorry if imess up the page
MORE GINGER LOVE!

I used to when I was young dye it even more red, like fire engine red. The nightmare always was that the colour lasted literally for MONTHS. I would use 6-8 wash temporary dyes, wash my hair 3 times a week and STILL have the colour in 6-8 months later, but by that stage with ginger roots. It was ridiculous. My hair is super dry though.
I know what you mean about Americans too. I am doing a masters at quite an international place and the Americans there are like "I have never heard the term ginger before, we call them redheads and no one ever says anything about them". Which is bizarre!
I think we need a ginger boy in on this thread to tell us what it is like from the guys side of things! |

Which is bizarre! | I'm a redhead with the fair skin and freckles and while we didn't get harassed as much as the people in the doc, we do still get some. As a child I was picked on a lot (as were other redheaded classmates), but it was the 80s and it was not cool to be redhead and freckled. It was mostly just lame comments about Howdy Doody or something equally unoriginal. I love it and cannot imagine not being a curly, freckled redhead. It's just who I am. |

| | I think its kind of scary when South Park episodes that seem a bit random, become totally "true" or a hot topic in some news report weeks or months later. I's got the gingervitus!!! Just like the World of Warcraft currently has the huge virus spreading and killing everyone off at the moment too.
Don't have BBC3, wish Id seen it. I don't get all the ginger hate. That guy who plays Ron Weasley (Rupert) in H.P. is gonna grow up to be a fine specimen Hello? Laura Prepon? Hot too. |
