| | | Top 5 horror movies I want recommendations, please -- I'm not that well versed in the genre. Give me your top 5 or just your recommendations.
1. 2001: A Space Odyssey (people who dont think this is a horror movie weren't paying attention)
2. Tale of Two Sisters
3. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
4. The Thing
5. The Ring
Honorable mention: Identity |

1. Near Dark
2. Martin
3. Re-Animator

| | | the ring fucked me up something fierce and i'm pretty much done with horror movies as a result. parts of that movie are just burned into my brain and the stuff that bothered me wasn't even scary, like the part in the actual ring video where the woman is brushing her hair and turns around. that just creeped me out. it was kind of like when i watched willy wonka as a kid and in the boat ride scene with the centipede crawling across the guy's face. i don't know, anyway, carry on. |

| | | in no particular order, but the fact there's six instead of five doesn't really matter.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
The Thing
Prince of Darkness
Hellraiser
The Hills have Eyes (original, not the dodgy remake and subsequently dodgier remake sequel.
Night of the Living dead (incl. sequels & remakes) |

Hitchcock deserves a top five all on his own though. |

| | | The Birds to me is only horror inasmuch as The Twilight Zone is horror. Only kinda-sorta.
Time Bandits was the scariest movie to me when I was like 5. The ending--where his parents explode, and the fireman smiles and drives away--gave me nightmares for years. |

Has anyone seen the most recent 'Toolbox Murders'? | I saw Toolbox Murders. It was okay, though my main motivation for seeing it was Sheri Moon's brief part. I haven't seen the original, though.
And the inclusion of Hellraiser reminds me that I cannot forget to mention Nightbreed. I saw it once a month or so ago, and it really stuck with me. |

2. house of 1000 corpse/ devil's reject
3. The exorcist (Not overly scary, especially now, but a great horror flick regardless)
4. House on Haunted Hil (only on my list cause he scared the hell out of me when I was younger, so it gets recognition)
