| | | Freaks & Geeks I just finished watching this series, it is fantastic! Why on earth did they cancel it after under one season?
I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it, it is really the sort of thing most people on KR would like.
Here is the IMDB entry: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0193676/
It's about a group of students in highschool in 1980's america. It's a sort of drama comedy.
Any other fans of this show? |

| | I love Freaks and Geeks.
As with Arrested Development and Veronica Mars, it was cancelled because people would rather watch shit like Survivor.
Kim Kelly's such a cunt. |

| | | That show was like aggggges ago. Last time I saw an episode was like 2 years ago babysitting. I always intended on getting a boxset if they had one, but never followed it up. It was so good. And DON'T even get me started on the Veronica Mars discussion! |

The way tehy dickd about with Arrested Development is a disgrace, that was the funniest and most original comedy made in america since Seinfeld. |

| | | I dunno, it's weird...it's one of those shows that although it was cancelled so early (which would lead one to believe that everyone hated it, right?) but lands itself as an honorable mention so often...the whole "I love the..." series on vhI mentioned it...I remember a few years ago they had a marathon of it...and I have never met a single person that's had anything bad to say about it, on top of which (as far as my experience goes) people DO remember it...does anyone else remember what else was out around that time? Maybe it was just killed by competition. |

I've actually only ever met one other person that liked the show though. I'm surprised so many do. |

| | | i think it was one of the higest rated shows to ever be cancelled in it's first season actually. i think the network didnt understand it and shifted it around so many times that advertisers pulled out because they thought the show wasnt a priority. im pretty sure it had to do with advertisers. that is one of the main reasons why "my so-called life" was cancelled. so sad. |

| | | I love the show, obviously. It was the perfect blend of humour and drama, without resorting to senseless comedy or WB-style teenage squabbles.
NBC fucked it up the ass so many times before eventually canceling it, it's disgusting. First they shoved it on Saturday nights, when no one but seniors and prison inmates watch tv. Then they moved it to Mondays for a few weeks, pulling it for sweeps, and then pulling it again until January. Then they pulled it again during February for some game show, and brought it back during March for a whole 2 episode before canning it. On top of NBC barely marketing it, or marketing it as the 80s equivalent of That 70s Show when they did, and all the shit I mentioned above, the American public much preferring cheesy game shows and reality tv really did it in.
FOX did much of the same to Apatow's Undeclared, which was also fantastic, although focused more on humour. |

| | | I've been watching Undeclared as well. It was nowhere near as good as Freaks and Geeks but it was a worthy show it's own right.
Has anyone seen Apatow's movies (i.e. 40 year Virgin, Knocked Up)? I never have. They never looked that funny to me. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
