You know, Tarantino does unashamedly take inspiration from so many other films, that you can't really hate him for it. It's just the way he does films.

Hey, as long as he acknoledges the fact that hes borrowing from someone else's work, there shouldn't be a problem. It's not as if he's stealing it, and taking all the credit. It's just his way of paying tribute to his favorite filmmakers. With that said, Grindhouse was a total surprise to me, i enjoyed that thing SO much! I cannot WAIT for the DVD! I hope it'll be out sometime around my Birthday, in October! If not, then at least before the end of the year. Which reminds me, I need to pick up that Jackie Brown DVD again.

it's the same thing like M. Night Shyamalan appearing in all his movies. Yes, it's his "schtick" and a tribute to Hitchcock but it sucks.

And so does Tarantino, and his movies don't come close to the movies he's paying "tribute" too and it's so predictable.

Just don't watch them then.

P.S. People have been watching and making movies for over a century now. There's very little left to do that could be construed as "original" (and no, CGI tricks don't count). Tarantino deserves a lot of credit for finding a way around that problem.

And no, as long as there is people like Stephen Daldry putting out something like The Hours, or Sofia Coppola with Marie Antoinette, or Almodovar and all his fucking filmography, he doesn't deserve any credit at all.

People really should just stop worshipping him as the best thing that happened to cinema since Citizen Kane, because that's just bullshit.

Forget about wether you like the movies I mentioned or not, they are new, they are fresh and they are original.

Kind of off topic, but I'm so so SO fucking pissed that Grindhouse didn't get released here (Australia) and if/when it ever does, it's going to be split into the two separate films. I like to bitch about this whenever I'm presented with an opportunity.

To be honest though, when they're split in two parts, they're longer.
Grindhouse: 191 minutes, edited (Canadian) version 189 minutes.
Death Proof: 113 minutes, edited (American) version 90 minutes.
So it's not all bad.....
