Malick's "The New World"

Am I the only person who saw this movie?
A more grown up version of the John Smith/Pochahontas story, and the English invasion of North America in 1607.
Good ponts-Amazing cinamatography
Q'Opianka Kilcher seems to have terrific acting potential.
Collin Farrell manages to disappear into his character, something he failed to do in Alexander.
Great attention to historical acurracy with regard to props. costumes, sets.Even used CGI and an Old recording to recreate the extinct Carolina Parrokeet.

Bad Points-Its slow paced.John Rolfe(Christian Bale) the boring responsible good guy, really is boring.
It uses Pochahantas as a metaphor for all native Americans and Native Americans as a metaphor for nature.
Wes Studi made the point that a lot got left out he thought was important-I.E,. the the strenght of Native American ressistance, and a lot of the
scientifically reconstructed Algonquin language Malick funded research into for this film.
The romance between Pochahontas and Smith is ahistorical, even Smith,
a bragging ladies man never suggested there was a physical relationship.

Worth seeing with patience and a few grains of salt.

They wanted to shoot the whole film in 65mm but couldn't afford to.
They shot alot that way, though, and used alot of natural light.
