Twin Peaks Appreciation & Discussion Thread

Well, after years of waiting, the second season of Twin Peaks has been released on DVD, and I've now finally seen all the episodes (the last few tapes were missing from my VHS box set). I was glad to see that the show picked up again in the last 7 or 8 episodes after the lull following Leland Palmer's death.

Also, it has been announced that David Lynch will be re-releasing Fire Walk With Me in its entirety, with all 8 hours of deleted scenes intact. This, as you Lynch freaks know, has been hugely anticipated for many years.

So, any thoughts, feelings, or deliberations on the show, the movie, the Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, or anything else pertaining to the obsession-worthy phenomenon known as Twin Peaks?

I thought the last episode was the really fucking scary episode. By the end I was crying and ultimately terrified for my life. I was pretty much in a daze for the next few hours.

i think its time for me to finally watch the last five (or so) episodes... watching it at 11:30 at night isnt exactly perfect (hurrah for shitty rerun hours for great tv).

I wanted sooo desperately for it to continue after that last episode. What a way to end it though....I could no believe that that happened.

Have any of you seen the European version? Was it really edited to downplay the supernatural aspects? The series would have worked very well as a detective drama as well I think.

I've never seen Fire Walk With Me, but I think when it's re released I'll pick it up. Plus, Bowie's in it.

I know. It was a truly good attempt by Lynch to try and get the show back for another season. Too bad that didn't happen, and there was no resolution to it. Oddly enough, though, that open ending makes it all the easier to obsess about somehow.

I was not jazzed, though, that he killed off Audrey Horne. That was just plain vindictive.

It wasn't vindictive. Sherilyn didn't want to do the movie and how does one replace Sherilyn? Moira Kelly did a much better job as Donna than Boyle ever could though.

As for the series, I abolutely worshipped the first season, especially the pilot and I'm dying to see the European version with additional 20 minutes during which the killer is revealed. Are there any torrents available of this? The second part of the second season was utter shit except for the finale. You couldn't possibly do the Lynchian without the Lynch.

It was the UK that really got into it, the reason it was axed was because the Americans (in general TV ratings etc) didn't care after they found out who killed Laura Palmer. It definitly wasn't editted for here.

They did do a different pilot that included a whole story and I think that was for europe or something... Im not sure about that though.

Yeah, I wonder if she regrets that now, seeing as how her career faded out faster than Manic Panic (the Flaming Red one, now that's pretty fast)...

....though I did really like Boxing Helena, as ridiculous as it was....
