| | | MTV True Life: I Don't Fit In this was the most heartbreaking True Life i've ever seen (asside from the adoption one). For one, i think this series is one of the only good things MTV produces, and i'm happy it's been on for so many years. But my god, tonight was awful.
The poor glam rock kid who'd be such a total hip/scene/rockstar in so many towns, is completley made fun of and crucified on a social cross. watching him cry was heartbreaking.
And i completley identified with the girl who was trying to become a nun.
But most of all, the black girl who wanted so badly to be white. between seeing all the little things and comments and confederate flags in her community, i'd understand why she wants to be white. and asking that amish lady for skin bleach... awful.
anyway. opinions?

| | | i don't think it's so bad about the glam rock kid, however that's terrible about the black girl. |

| | | i think true life is one of the very few things that redeem mtv. some of them are very well made and touching documentaries.
i have to see that one, i always make a point to watch when its on.
one of the best ive seen was the poverty one, with the kid living in a one room house in rural midwest with no running water, who wanted to join the military. and the latina girl in oakland whose mom kicked her out because she was dating a black guy.
another truly fascinating one was the clubber one. it got scary at the end when the girl was so hooked on meth/coke or whatever it was and was snorting it off the floor of some dude's kitchen. that was an extreme one.. |

whenever i go to visit my extended family in india, i see this brand of skin whitening cream called 'fair and lovely' being sold in stores. over there, lighter skin is usually seen as being more attractive. i know for a fact that my cousin uses it.
it's quite sad. |

Last year I got a small burn mark on the side of my face and the doctor gave me skin bleach and it got rid of it in about a month.
She gave me a tiny little container and you're only suppose to put tiny dots on it. And you have to keep it in the fridge.
And then I asked her if it was the same thing Michael Jackson uses and she said he probably uses a much more stronger and drastic one. |

life sucks. | indeed! That's the fucked up thing. He seems like such a sweet kid....and I know a few like him in high school. They didn't rock the go-go boots like him (very impressed that he was able to walk in those btw), but they did the hair. |
