Aww, it's one of my favourite shows. I bought Season 1 and 2 on DVD and I'm so glad I did. It hasn't been on TV here in ages, so I'm not sure what season we were up to. We weren't up to the bit where Eric leaves, though.

What was the show like after Topher Grace left? I'd imagine it would be suckier. He's such a good actor, I think.

awww, I haven't seen the last couple seasons but I'd heard it wasn't as good. I've got to get the fourth season, it just came out the other day, but I'm broke as hell.
Did it at least end well?

topher grace is an asshat.

i watched the that 70's show retrospective thing on fox tonight. it was so sad.
but that show is perfect for re-runs, because every episode is good.

i havent seen a full episode of this show ever in my life. they kept it in the 70s though for some unknown reason. it had to do with the show's themes. so even though it was 74 or 75, 7 seasons later, it's still the 70s. i think it devalues the show's integrity. does that mean the show has survived on a gimmick?

It was actually a pretty strong show despite the 70's gimmick. A lot of it would still be funny if the show took place in the present.

The reason That 80's Show sucked so bad is that they relied too heavily on it taking place in the 80's.
The writing on That 70's Show was much stronger, as was the cast.

i'm not saying it was a gimmick, just that keeping it in the 70s sells the show short. a lot of people i know liked the show and never once did anything they had to say about it involve bellbottoms or lava lamps. it was about the characters. wasnt it originally called "american wasteland"? i know too much about a show i never watched.

freaks and geeks didnt rely on being set in the 80s. the creator said he just did it so he wouldnt have pressure fromt he studio to play current music and could play whatever he wanted to.

It was originally going to be called "Teenage Wasteland" but it was always going to be set in the '70s.

I adored Freaks and Geeks, they were mad to cancel it. It was awesome.

Yeah they've been holding strong on 1979 for the last few seasons. I really think it's time to kill it off.

the last episode takes place on New Years Eve 1979 a way to end the decade of the 70's.

Ive been watching the show before ite ven premiered, I remeber watching the premiere commercials and it was the scene when they were the house party with all the parents and Donna' dad comes up to the guys and talks about how he just got his hair permed to be a fro and theyre just looking at Donna's moms chest, and then Ive watched every episode since it premiered..its kind of crazy I was 10 when I started watching it and Im 18 now.

The last season (right now) season 8 doesnt have the characters Eric and kelso so the whole tone and medium of the show has changed, its not the same and as much as I love thes how if this is the only way the show can continue I'm glad its coming to an end because the whole show is about the 6 of them as a group,(Eric,Donna,Kelso,Jackie,Hyde, and Fez) not just the 4 of them (Donna,Jackie,Hyde,Fez).

That show used to be my favorite show the first few seasons. But the last couple of seasons were just terrible. Especially that new guy they got now.... he fucking sucks! I stopped watching around 2 years ago.

it was a great show, but they've had it going for far too long. i haven't seen any of the ones without kelso or eric (they haven't screened in my country). i think i've seen the series before that, and it wasn't anywhere near as good as the old ones.

they really should have called it a day when people wanted to leave

I'd say it's a pretty good show and kinda funny, but what I don't get is why fox plays reruns of it 5 times a day@!!!! It's not *that* good.
Okay, and seriously, they should've ended it like 4 seasons ago. Even if they were going to keep it going, they would've had to keep eric on. Regardless of the other characters, if the main one leaves, the show's over. I don't even know how the show is without eric and donna and apparently kelso, because I haven't wanted to watch it for a long time anyway.
Basically, I think it was funny, but not as funny as people/the network make it out to be and it has definitely gone on wayyyy too long. Weren't there like 3 seasons set in 1978? That's just stupid.

But what really makes me mad is that our local fox affiliate replaced seinfeld with more 70s show reruns at 6:00. HOW DARE THEY!?
