| | | Asian cinema I can't get enough of it. Especially the horror variety. Most often it is the cinematography that hooks me, sometimes the directing, or maybe it's the petite, frail Asian women with the softest voices that really fit the eery motives of those films. Whatever the reasons are I just looove them, even the bad ones. Granted, the bad ones are quite bad, like I watched too many Asian horror films that center around "cell phones" or a vengeful long-dark-haired female ghost. But still, I just really enjoy all of them.
What is the last Asian horror movie you watched? Yesterday I watched the feature length version (I had seen the short version) of the Dumplings on Sundance channel; it is not exactly a horror film, but it has a creepy theme nevertheless. Loved the cinematography and Bai Ling was actually for once good in a film.

| | | I was just about to ask about that movie "Dumplings." Something about retaining youthful looks with a "secret" ingredient? Is it good? I was gonna rent it...... |

Much of the enjoyment comes from the interesting story and the atmosphere created. I say rent it, but I don't know, maybe you may hate it...It's a hard one to recommend. |

| | | I loved Dumplings. Try the trilogy version first, that way you can check out Miike's Box. Beautifully done. |

I watched nothing but a variety of Asian cinema for a couple years, so I had a bit of an overload. I'm getting back into French films right now. Quote: |

| | | I don't think there is any Asian horror film that has been released in US (even in video market capacity) that I have not seen. Of course I see some non-horror Asian films too, but when I feel like getting my thrill fix, I definitely prefer Asian.... Korean, Hong Kong, Japanese...I don't care. They all have good films to offer.
You mentioned French films. I have always followed French cinema closely since I was a kid. That is my favourite "relationship genre" fix. Speaking of, I have a crush on Laurent Lucas. |

oldboy pisses all over killbill as a revenge story (altho i still like the latter as a film as well) |

| | | I haven't seen one in a long time, but I'm going to watch Shutter soon I think.
The little long haired ghost girl thing works so well on me, so I avoid asian horror a lot, but I like it and I'm starting to miss it a bit.
A Tale of Two Sisters is so overrated. |

| | | I absolutely adore Kitano, he is my favourite director ever.
As for horror/thriller, nothing beats Miike... I love Audition, the Dead Or Alive triology and especially Ichi The Killer. |

| | | not horror but the bollywood remake of fight club as a musical is pretty good in a lulzy type of way i.e. it is fucking horrible and doesn't have much in common with the original one |

I'm fairly sure I've seen this but for the life of me I can't remember what it's about?? I was talking about it last night in fact.. Is this the one with the mother spraying milk all over the kitchen floor & her son gos & lies in it?
Or is that something completely different?
Anyway, I'm addicted to asian cinema as well, I don't watch anywhere near as much of it as I used to though
I LOOVEED tales of two sisters, it's actually one of the scariest films I've ever seen. |
