One Tree Hill Episode Cancellation

Just now on British television E4 it announced;

The next episode of One Tree Hill has been canceled due to themes involving guns and schools. Since the events around the Virginia Tech shooting we deem it inappropriate to air this episode so we now bring you Average Joe.

Anyone else whatch this show, is there really something similar in it? I normally dont but Im curious now.
Anyone else experience this in the U.S or abroad. Either song/radio or television media wise now or even in the past during other tradgedies........

I don't watch the show, I think I may have seen one episode, but I do know they clog the streets up downtown (Wilmington, NC) where I work for the recording, which doesn't work if you need/want to do anything downtown after work

yeah there is. one of the kids shows up at school with a gun and takes a few of the main characters hostage (paige and hayley i think). i dont think he actually kills anybody, though somebody does die.

what is average joe?

Its like Beauty and the Geek a bit.
All these "nerdy" "ugly" boys compete for this "model" looking girl through challenges and showing their "personality" to win her. Its really superficial though it tries to dispell that whole aspect.

oh and thanks for the info <3

Wait? That episode is old! The new series is on sundays! BUT they cancelled that episode when it was first meant to be aired too because there had been some kind of other shooting around then too! How random?! Can't remember what it was though. Shitty thing is, that was a pretty vital episode of that series and they just went onto the next episode. Look out for Pete Wentz in the next few epsiodes. Ridiculous storyline.

I seem to remember there was an early episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer with it looked like there was going to be a school shooting but in fact the guy was only going to shoot himself, and the dinner lady was trying to poisen them... or something.

And anyway I seem to recall it had to be skipped and shown at a later date because of Columbine.

correct.
they also pulled the second part of the graduation, which didn't end up airing until mid summer.

i watched that one tree hill episode. big one tree hill nut here!! yeah, sad. but yeah, someone important dies in the episode and peyton gets shot and cries and kisses someone but she doesn't die. there, lame spoiler. i think the fat loser kid's tirade against his classmates leaked episodes earlier (by that bitch rachel) and people hate him now. but he's over it and is not gonna take it anymore!! dramarama. it's funny, at the end, there's like public service announcement starring mouth and chad michael murray.

Wow! Really?

Being equally a I know which episode you are talking about and that must have been annoying.

"So... the mayors about to turn into a giant snake, and Angel might leave, and they all might die.... but you're going to have to wait months to find out what happens".

I can understand why they pull things which are very relevant and very soon, but you'd think some things might actually be a help for people to watch.

Its weird that when they were repeating old one tree hill episodes that the "sensitive" one came around again at the same time as the Virginia thing.
I remember reading that certain songs were pulled off the air after Vietnam too, I think some Doors songs were included in that....

I was watching Buffy at the time, and I thought the Graduation Pt. 2 business was out of line. I understand pulling the Jonathan-in-the-clock-tower episode, even though the school shooting idea was a red herring, it was obviously a red herring for the purpose of having the characters discuss the issue, which they did. I believe the prom one was yanked too – either that one or the clock tower one was set to air the actual week Columbine happened.

But Grad 2 was a little later (although not all that much – the show always closed in late May, so we’re talking not much more than a month). More importantly, it seriously had nothing to do with the idea of students hurting other human beings. Frankly, to me the prom one really didn’t either, the Devil Dog plot was deliberately very perfunctory. The real story was the kids thanking Buffy for all that she’d done for them, and in doing so, taking the crucial step of saying out loud that there was something wrong in their town. But it was scheduled quite close to the actual tragedy, and it did involve the whole-you’ll-all-suffer-for-not-liking-me-thing.

Graduation 2 had nothing to do with any of that. The kids pulled together – geeks, popular kids and nobodies alike to save themselves, as well as the town/world. It seemed to be the bare facts of the idea that they were carrying weapons underneath their gowns. If the commencement speaker is a demon about to unleash an army of the undead to feed the graduating class to him so he can sustain his transformation into a 50-foot snake, then even I want the kids armed. Somebody has to be able to tell the difference between something like that and random killing. If adults can’t, how can we expect the kids to?
