One of my favorite scenes from "Grey Gardens"
I want to have a Grey Gardens costume party, although we'd probably have 50 Little Edies, a handful of Big Edies, and maybe one poor little Marble Faun
One more includes a sampling of Little Edie's fashion sense
Daylight, did you feel the need to take a shower after watching this documentary? Seeing that filthy house and all the cats and raccoons and TRASH and newspapers (horrible for me with my newspaper phobia) made me feel the need to wash off very thoroughly. It was amazing to see as the film progressed, how much that one particular wall was just destroyed by the racoons.

Is it racoon or raccoon? I've used both.
Oh absolutely. In fact, I was on the verge of vomiting at certain moments. The entire film is absolutely unreal. And the depth of the Edie's obliviousness is so cool -- like Little Edie was dressed like an absolute fool sitting outside reading a star map ... why? Who knows. She was playing her part as usual.

I'm reading Holy Terror, Bob Colacello's book about Andy Warhol and theres a scene in it that recounts meeting the Edies- with Big Edie offering the guests snacks from the old, decaying food scraps in her bed.
They were just so fascinating. Rosie O' Donnell's been ranting about the play/ documentary and how great it is. I'd love to see one or the other.
