| | Jackie Brown? I've never actually seen it, but my boyfriend bought me it on dvd - cause I like Tarantino's other movies - is it any good?

| | | it's the only Tarantino movie I like because it has depth for a change, and it's the only movie of his that doesn't rely on shock value over the top vulgar humiliating sex and violence.
It's just a good story about a woman making her way into the world.
If you are a Tarantino tard you are probably going to hate it. I thought Tarantino fans were film lovers but they are more like humiliating sex/violence lovers. How lame
I proudly dislike Tarantino, but I do love Jackie Brown. |

I proudly dislike Tarantino, but I do love Jackie Brown. | I love Jackie Brown, it's terribly underrated. Pam Grier and Robert Forster were excellent in it, and I enjoyed seeing these two major staples of '70s cinema as the leads.
Michael Keaton has a minor role in it and is just as good. |

| | | yes it's a great movie, and compared to his other films, you can see you don't need sex and violence to be cool. That is only required when your audience are cultural retards. |

| | | I hear you. It's retarded. I feel so impotent, I wish I could grab all the Tarantino/Rodriguez/Saw/Hostel tards and just yell "OPEN YOUR EYES TO OTHER CINEMA" because they don't know anything. |

| | | I think JB is his best film it's the only one that isn't overbearingly shticky. Just avoid the special features because all he does is drone on about how his mom dated a black guy thus making him down with the blacks blah blah blah. It's really annoying.
Pam Grier is fantastic in this film and should have won the Oscar that year. |

| | | It's my favourite Tarantino film. There's more "heart" or something. More substance, less fanwank, in my opinion.

so SO underrated. i wasn't expecting it to be a fraction as good as it was. i was absolutely impressed.
random fact : jackie brown is based on a book by elmore leonard, who also wrote the book of 'out of sight' (with j.lo and clooney). sometimes e. l. has some characters from one book randomly in another. michael keaton plays the same character in both movies. i just LOVE THAT! GREAT CALL Q.T.! |

| | | Yeah i saw this movie a long time ago. I wish Tarantino would make more movies like this one, instead of cheesy macho superviolent bloody mess. I really like those scenes with Pam Greier in her apt. nice.
kill bill ruined Tarantino for me. and Rose McGowen yuck. |

| | | The answer to Jackie Brown is yes. Especially when you follow Pulp Fiction with it. Or Reservoir Dogs, because they actually talk about Pam Grier for a minute in that one.

to me it was the CSI episode. That's when I realized his movies are crap. Except for Jackie Brown of course but that's the most un-Tarantino of his movies. |

| | | Yeah, Pulp Fiction, though good, was taken on as a favorite by dumb jocks, and the movie Reservoir Dogs made me, EVEN ME, cringe with disgust. However, I was so hot for Jackie Brown and the Kill Bill movies. I imagine it's no coincidence that women are the centerpieces of both films. Plus, Jackie Brown has a great soundtrack. And Bridget Fonda as a stoner beachbunny? How could you not love it? |

this are the tarantino fans, I'm proudly NOT one of them.
I remember this guy at my university who prided himself on being a movie buff but he really couldn't talk about anything besides Tarantino, I mean c'mon. That is so retarded. |

| | | Well, I mean, it's still a good movie...nothing new, but still fun...mostly I just have it as a reference for the satire Plump Fiction, in the same way that I have Truth Or Dare as a reference for Medusa: Dare To Be Truthful. |
