| | | I think it's great how, after winning the oscar, Nicole has continued to do thought provoking and arty roles as opposed to taking the Halle Berry route. |

| | | They had a feature on Diane Arbus on The Culture Show a while ago, and they interviewed Germaine Greer about the photo she took of her. She didn't seem to like Arbus at all. |

People and shamefully some photographers, specially modern ones, think that portraits are not meant to make the subject look beautiful, or that it's ok to not make them look beautiful and that is an aberration. It goes against the very nature of the portrait. The purpose of the portrait, ALWAYS, is to make the person look their best. What Arbus did weren't portraits, and I'm sure she knew they weren't portraits, it's documentary photography. She would document people and their inmediate surroundings as to say "here's this person" and that is good, but they aren't portraits.
And if you take a picture of someone in that fashion, meant only to show them and not make them look better, the subject is not going to like it. You can do if for artistic purposes, wich is valid, but you need to make the distinction between that and a portrait. |

Like the picture of the giant with his parents and the mental patients dressed up, that she was humiliating people who were already weak and displaying them as freaks. About her own photo she said that Diane just crawled directly on top of her and trapper her with her legs and took the photo without saying a word. |

Well I guess it depends on the person who's watching the picture. Some might find it offensive, like she was exploiting them, others might say the contrary. I don't know but I don't think Diane took them with the purpose of humiliating people. |

Birth was pretty fucking interesting to say the least. She's good like that. She's also a friggin' good actress to boot.

omg I love Nicole Kidman so much. She's a true artist of the screen. I think she's one of the best actresses today and a future legend. Who would've known that she would blossom into such an artist. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
