jo was secretly the girl on melrose place i most wanted to have sex with.

and she was an inspiration to all ugly girls who hoped to land much hotter boyfriends.
jake was much hotter than her, but she was probably the girl he was best with.

towards the end of season four, they released some melrose place novels that took place before the show.

one was about amanda and the other was about jane & sydney.

i kept hoping they would release a jo novel, but they never did. then she left the show anyway.

i'm totally obsessed with her. mostly with the character, not so much with the actress.

I thought Courtney Thorne Smith was supposed to be the ugly one.

i never read the amanda novel, but i'll briefly summarize the jane/sydney one.
first of all, i remember it being quite dissapointing.

-syndey comes home from school for christmas. she's fucking up badly, but has started an affair with the T.A. of her art history course. he's married though.

-jane is finishing up her design major at college and brings her new boyfriend michael home to meet the family.
everybody loves him. sydney gets pissed off that everybody is comparing her with jane. she throws a tantrum, retreats to the basement where michael sneaks her a few drinks.
later on she freaks out about somthing else and heads back to school.

-the guy she's fucking worries his wife will find out and breaks it off with syd. she tells his wife and then drops out of school.
she moves in with jane in chicago.

-syd gets a job as a phone sex operator. she tells everybody it's a call center.

-michael and jane get engaged.

-syd promises jane that she'll get her designs mailed off for a very important internship. syd forgets and jane loses the oppoutunity.
her and jane stop speaking. syd moves in with the boss lady at the phone sex place.

-syd finds out michael cheated on jane with a stripper at his bachelor party. syd attempts to tell jane, but michael locks her in the trunk of his car. she misses the wedding.

-afterwards michael lets her out and tries to explain that jane is happy and doesn't need to know about his fucking around.
jane forgives sydney for not sending off the designs.
michael and sydney dance at the wedding and michael tries to explain to syd that school is just a matter of applying yourself and wishes her luck at her next school.
he apoligizes that she had to miss the wedding and sydney says "that's okay, maybe i'll be at your next wedding."

the end.

Jo was my favorite character on the show... she seemed more independent than the rest of them. I liked that she was a photographer.

I like Daphne Zuniga in "the sure thing" with John Cusack too. Funny shit. I thought they had good chemistry.

she looks like such a bull dyke there, but i think it's just a bad picture.

she got ugly in season two, but that was mostly due to her bad haircut. in season one she was alright. her character was just boring as hell.

truthfully the show didn't get truly ugly until lisa rinna showed up. her ungodly lips and pubic hairstyle were really gross, as was her constant use of the word "baby" when attempting to get one over on her brain dead hardon of a husband.

I hated Melrose Place when she left, although her leaving wasn't the whole reason it started to suck.

I think Courtney Thorne-Smith is unattractive/annoying simply because of the way she talks... not only that I guess- I don't like her voice either. Just something about it grates my nerves. I wouldn't say it's whiney, but it's in the vicinity of whiney and she speaks too slow, as if she can't remember her lines. And is it just me or does her face have no expression whatsoever EVER?
