| | | 5-10 best Cary Grant films? I want to like him, and was just looking at his filmography. He made a lot of movies and I don't know where to start. I don't want to go chronologically, because anybody who has made a lot of movies has probaby made some shitty movies.
If you're a fan, what would you suggest as his essential films? |

| | Bringing Up Baby is the most ace film ever- Him and Katherine Hepburn in screwball comedy. You get to see him in a fluffy dressing gown which is funny and theres a very pretty leopard *nods*
An Affair To Remember is really good as well Very sweet and romantic |

| | | go with "notorious". although he's known for being funny this is one of his best known, and its great.
'arsenic and old lace' is really funny and quick .
also, "philadelphia story' along with what hatful mentioned.
'north by northwest' is probably a good one to see too. although personally i find it a tad overrated. the best part is when he's drunk at the beginning, its really funny. not enough humor in that one. still, its overwhelmingly lauded, so you probably should give it a go.
c.g. is great. he was the first george clooney. |

Cary Grant has been one of my favorite actors since I was teeny. I'm a big fan.
My top 5:
1. Philadelphia Story- romantic comedy with a perfect cast & script. One of my favorite movies ever. (w/ Katherine Hephurn)
2. Arsenic & Old Lace- completely funny and a bit strange ( w/ Priscilla Lane... & Peter Lorre)
3. Charade- mystery/thriller (w/ Audrey Hepburn)
4. Bringing up Baby- a classic comedy (w/ Katherine Hephurn, who may steal the show)
5. To Catch a Thief- my favorite Hitchcock that he's in (w/ Grace Kelly).
5. North by Northwest- his best-known performance? & good Hitchcock (w/ Eva Marie Saint). |

I thought things were going great with the reporter then she fucks off & marries her ex husband out of nowhere! i didn't see it coming and it bothered me. |

At least I thought so. She and Dexter argued, but since both had changed since the divorce and overcome what bothered each other they were able to see they loved each other again. I thought it was a very romantic ending. Course, I sat through the entire movie the first time thinking "well, this is a no-brainer. Go for Cary!" |

| | | I don't know, maybe you're not interested anymore, but I just saw Talk of the Town, and I recommend it to anyone who likes Cary Grant. Granted, he's not very different movie to movie, but this role is outside of his usual performances. He's rough and dark while still charming, of course. I loved it. |
