its a pity it was released the same time as Sixth Sense coz of the similar story line twist

no way Kate Winslet is. Nicole Kidman is so annoying when she does the American accents in that little babydoll voice and she's so icy and frozen onscreen. I think Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett are far better and true artists and the best actresses of our time. I find Kidman overrated but she was good in this film. Reminded me of the type of film that would have made 50 years ago. Every other film I can't stand her though. Blanchett and Winslet especially always wow me. Anyway the Others is pretty good. And like I said Kidman is good in it. But it's not the sort of film to watch more than twice.

Why are you comparing Kate to Nicole??

I think there is a generation of younger actresses that are ARTISTS and forces to be reckoned with and to me they are scarlett johansson, blanchett, winslet and NICOLE KIDMAN and a few others.

Nicole Kidman is amazing. Even if her movies are bad, her acting is always good.

I'm just not a fan of Kidman. She's never moved me with a performance or wowed me and with her I only spot technique not raw acting. Performances like Charlize Theron in Monster and Emily Watson in Breaking the Waves and Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream and just about every Kate Winslet performance are what really touch me. Kidman just comes across as frozen onscreen too often and I hate her voice. But I do admire that she takes risks. And actually I should stop hating on her because I thought she was amazing in Dogville too. I just don't get the hype about everything else she's done like The Hours. I felt Julianne Moore's performance was the most layered and haunting yet Kidman got all the attention. I don't know I always see Nicole Kidman when she's doing a role and that voice annoys me. She whispers too much. Whenever she tries to sound deep she does that whispery baby voice thing and it annoys the hell out of me. Maybe it's just me. For me Blanchett and Winslet always completely disappear into the role and Winslet wows me more because she's the most radiant onscreen. She really is the best we have I think. Much better than fishsticks like Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow. Thank God Gwyneth Paltrow didn't do Titanic her icy wooden acting would have made it unbearable, instead we got radiant and charming English Rose Kate! And Johansson? She's another actress who is all hype. I think the main reason is again her voice. It's so monotone. She can't express emotion with it the way Kate Winslet can with her beautiful voice. Scarlett's monotone voice is a problem for her acting. She worked well for Lost in Translation because she didn't have to do much, it was a very subtle film. So because that film was so good everyone started building up all the hype around her but now they see she can't really do anything different in any film and when she tries she sounds so wooden. Do you think she could do a role like the Kate Winslet role in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? She wouldn't even be able to do Thora Birch's role in Ghost World so thank God she got the role of the bored friend. She almost ruined Match Point for me with her shitty acting.

I actually try and avoid nicole kidman. I just am not into her. She always looks like she is trying to hold back crying and she talks like she is trying to hide she is out of breath. And do not bash kirsten dunst again. GIRLFRIEND IS A FABULOUS ACTRESS. So what if she has made those half asses teeny movies. I think that 'Dick' was an amazing movie, she can play any part she tries and she is fabulous in it. When she is 35 she will be unstoppable.

All of these weird mal proportioned blonde actresses mentioned are somewhat fug, but they are beyond amazing with their art.

You say Kidman is all technique but you don't think it's all technique with Theron in Monster and the other examples?? it's all technique.

All of the women in The Hours for me, gave incredible performances, and Julianne Moore was just amazing. I can't say Kidman was better than the others or that they others were better, the three of them are so good and work so well for the film, you can't say one was better than the other. Kidman got the hype because of her physical transformation, and that doesn't mean she was better than the othet two, but it does not discredit her performance, or her oscar, in any way or form.

It's funny because I have never seen Nicole in any of her movies, it's always the character, and you may not like her but there is no denying her versatility as an actress. She has never performed as herself like Angelina or Kirsten always do. There is always something different in every movie of hers, wether the hair or the demeanour. Are you honestly saying to me you don't see a single difference between Satine, Virginia and the mother in the others?? please, THA'TS A REAL ACTRESS.

If you see The Girl with A Pearl Earring, you would see Scarlett is simply incredible.
