| | | The Black Donnelly's (new nbc drama) ok so the plot is vague at first, it's about some new york irish gangsters and their tragedy, then it gets crazy.
i thought the plot writing was excellent, and i didn't see the ending coming. the episodes are more like mini-movies?
anyway it's a crime-gang-mob-drama
p.s. all the donnelley brothers are super hot.
you can watch the full premier episode here: http://www.nbc.com/Video/rewind/full...onnellys.shtml
it airs monday nights at 10pm |

| | | Fuck this not having an edit button.
but, it think this show really goes out of the tv-crime-drama box, which network tv rarely does. it seems like a show that'd be on hbo, but is instead on nbc. sortof like, the office, or arrested development. i was impressed. |

| | | no, there was a big twist.
the good brother, knew that the bad brother had to visit the italian mobsters and pay his due (getting the shit kicked out of him, and probably beaten to death), and his brother sean is on his deathbed in the hospital.
so, the good brother calls the cops and rats out jimmy (bad brother) about the truck theft, knowing that they'll arrest him and jail him and put him in rehab. this move would also save jimmy's life, as if he's in jail - he's protected from the italian mob.
but, by putting jimmy in jail, tommy then became the irish mob leader, by default.
and then they cut to jimmy (bad brother) as he was going to jail, and they said "this was the day that changed both their lives", as jimmy decides that sean's likley death and his arrest aren't worth it, and jimmy vows to become good -- then tommy, who has lost one brother to jail and one brother to death, both at the hands of the italians, vows to avenge this and he becomes the bad one, and the new and unlikley mob boss.
and i think sean may die. maybe not. it seems like he's going to though, but may do a big recovery as a plot twist. |

| | Preview of 2nd episode from http://theblackdonnellys.blogspot.com/ (it really is not too revealing, no more than a TV Guide listing but some may consider it a SPOILER): Quote:
Episode 2 Outline - Airs on 3/05/07
This is a breakdown straight from NBC. We were not allowed to release this till the pilot episode aired.
"A STONE OF THE HEART"
A Stone of the Heart - As the Donnelly family learns Sean's (Michael Stahl-David) condition, Jimmy (Thomas Guiry) impatiently sits in a holding cell. Tommy (Jonathan Tucker) and Kevin (Billy Lush) have to accept what they did as they visit Sean. Overwhelmed, Tommy confides in Jenny Reilly (Olivia Wilde), his longtime childhood friend, which ultimately leads to more than friendship. The brothers tie up Jimmy's loose ends by disposing the body and paying back the mob. Meanwhile, Nicky Cottero (Kirk Acevedo) seizes control of the Italian mob while the murder investigation begins. Keith Noob also stars as Joey Ice Cream.

| | | Well, I've been sick so I fell asleep after closing my eyes to avoid the endless sledgehammering of Louie's dead body... so was there a twist at the end? I liked Joey's attorney. |

| | | i was really bored yesterday so i followed the link you posted and watched the pilot.
i agree that it is like an irish, young man's sopranos. though i also do agree with whoever said that the other brothers besides the main one (tommy? i forget alreay) need some more development. he's vastly more intersting than anyone else, the girl included. and thats a bit of a problem. this could come together though as the weeks go on...
this episode felt like a mini-movie and just reminds me how far serialized drama has come. its dark, violent, and alot of story devices that i am used to seeing more traditionally in films and on HBO. it didn't blow me away, it has potential though, someone knows what they are doing, they just need to get deeper into some of it IMO.
though i found it strange that the entire story is resting on the shoulders of this narrartor, whose credibility was established from almost the first minute as totally questionable. it leaves a kind of uncertainty hanging over the events we are seeing. its kind of at the back of the mind whether or not something is going to turn unexpectedly based on that.
