| | | marebito - kinda vampire/killer/lonely guy horror.
silly ending but it was one of the best (visually) that i have seen in a while. three extremes - gore fest. i saw it a long time ago but it's also high up on my list of good asian films. |

Junk
Nails or is it Nail? either way
then there are a bunch more I don't remember right now that are disturbing in a way few Western films are.

I have seen some others but can't think of the names -- I think one of then was called infection. It was so - so. I'll think about this.

They both had features on Chiaki Kuriyama), and the print ads were enough for me; they were just like the dvd cover, except the girls were both smothered in blood (btw, I do highly recommend the film; it knocked the bejeepers out my friend and I).
As of now, it seems as though the Koreans are really giving Japanese cinema in general a run for its money.
Other recommendations:
-Tetsuo
-Onibaba
-Rubber's Lover
-964 Pinocchio
-H
-Izo
-Gozu
And for rock n' roll zombie mayhem:
Wild Zero, starring the greatest Japanese band ever, Guitar Wolf.
For something as interesting, graphic, and disturbing as the live action films, you may also be interesting in anime such as Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Perfect Blue. All stunningly animated, might I add. Quote: |

| | | Japanese horror is like the darkest corner of life itself personified and usually sold for $39.00 in Canada. That's what's so terriying. |

I'm sure the other people I exposed the film to would love to do the same (since I also used some of the film's imagery for promotional fliers for my brother's poetry group and such). | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
