Transamerica is getting released on DVD on May 23rd. The DVD package looks pretty good, it has a lenticular cover that show the transformation of Felicity as herself to Bree. Theres some decetn special features and a Dolly Parton music video!

The movie itself is worth it. It was one of the best movies of last year that suffere from being under the new Weinstien Co. They ahd a movie with huge Oscar buzz, buzz that started long before the movie was even released and the best they could do was 140 theaters.

The movie went on to get two Oscar nominations, despite the lack of theaters. Felicity Huffman, for Best Actress and Dolly Parton for Best Song. Both lost. Dolly to the novelty rap song "Hard Out Here For A Pimp", and Felicity to Reese Witherspoons supporting actress role.

I think everyone should see this film just to see the best potryal of a Transgender character in cinematic history. I think what si so great about this movie is it isn't a tragic true life story, like Boys Don't Cry and Soldier's Girl, which are both great films in their own right. This movie is very sharp and funny, but also very heartfelt and sometimes upsetting.

It also has a fantastic country/gospel soundtrack that fits with the road trip/self discovery theme of the film.

Rent or buy it!

I LOVED this film so much. I saw it at the cinemas and it was great. Felicity Huffman was, awesome, she really was fantastic.

anyway, i love felicity huffman and am so excited to see this. she'll be around long after desperate housewives....some of them probably wont.

The performance is so amazing, I can't imagine her ever toping it.

It's a shame she didn't win the Oscar, but oh well.

ew i saw him in this movie caleld "FEARD OF THE DARK' or something. he just goes around going "NO THERE ARE NO MONSTESR UNDAH DA BED LIL BOY" for 2 hours straight. so boring!!

Forget Kevin Zegers, anyone could have played that part and it really wouldn't have impacted the film. It's all about Felicity.

I think the only character who simply couldn't have been played by anyone else, other than Bree, would be Bree's mother. Finoulla Flanagan is simply amazing here. I really wish she had gotten a Best Supporting Actress nod, but that catagory was kind of full, I think she could have replaced Frances McDormand maybe.

Just a reminder, the movie comes out this tuesday! They are actually promoting the DVD release, and in a BIZARRE way. The Tv spots are making it look like it's a wes andersen style comedy, which it's far from. There is a print ad that parodies Brokeback Mountain. Also, the DVD is a slip cover, the outer cover is the lenticular one that morphs from Felicity to the character she potrays. The inside cover is odd, it looks like the cover to I <3 Huckabees, another film it's nothing like.

the covers make it seem like a really wacky comedy full of physical comedy. the comedy in it is subtle and only from real life. its more of a drama with comedic elements.

bree's mother reminds me of my grandmother.

The son looks like a cross between Gerard Way from Mcr & the pyscho from redeye that movie. The movie was really good.

i got to watch it the other night...i liked it...it wasn't as great as i thought it was going to be, but i still thought it was pretty good

How did you feel about her crying scene? I thought it was so painful and heartwrenching and I think it was so real and compelling but a friend I watched it with laughed. She didn't laugh in a mean way but still, I can't imagine laughing at it.

a lot of fucking drool though. at least she acknowleged it. i hate when i am watching movies and the actor is crying/drooling and they act like they dont notice. no matter how sad you are, you would notice it, even if subconsciously.

i laughed too. it was kind of scary. but i guess she just felt the moment so much. i laughed at many scenes in this film, when the boy was on the cusp of having sex with the old man inside the truck.
