Brick
the movie....
Anyone seen it? I loved it but my mom didnt and she was giving out that we wasted our evening watching a 'teen flick.' I totally disagree..I thought it was awesome nevertheless. She also watched hard candy by herself and she didnt like it either so I dont trust her opinion. | i loved brick. and i think your mom is wrong. its modern noir. if she doesnt like film noir, thats her loss.
edit: i answered this post twice. i think im senile now.

| | | I remember seeing this sometime last year. I loved it! I watched it with my mum and we were sitting there throughout the movie looking at eachother thinking wtf. I never once felt sorry for that guy, I got terribly excited when she was about to cut him. I thought it was pretty clever that scene. I didn't think it dragged on too long. I think it was the right length given the material. |

Hard Candy is not noir. It's just badly made sleaze. Sleaze without even the courage of its convictions: "Sure I cut off your balls, but then again, not really! Surprise!" There's a lot of that going around these days. |

That was the second-funniest line in the movie next to "I fucking hate Goldfrapp." |

| | | I am still not sure what I think about this movie. It definitely didn't end up being what I thought it was, and its was much darker than I expected but rather slow and semi-predictable. With that said, I would still recommend seeing it if you haven't cause it is interesting and not like much else out in the past couple years. |

| | | i'm watching it right now and it's nearly over, and SO overrated.
it's slow, and the dialogue is predictable, and it's not even scary or much of a thriller. the psychological element is very bland.
it has like 15 minutes left.
i'm unimpressed.
or maybe i'm just very hard to shock/scare
if anything, i feel bad for this guy. and bad for ellen page's character for being so token, and the same type of character she ALWAYS plays; sassy jaded teen too wise for her years, with hip tastes in music and movies, a bad attitude and an agenda. |

| | Ellen Page wasn't recognizable when this movie was first released. I loved this movie, I thought it was great, and I cringed at "the scene". |
