Bully

What are people opinions on this movie??
How does it compare to the book??
I watched it last night and was a bit unimpressed. It seemed so unrealistic compared to Kids and you hardly knew some of the characters that killed Bobby so I couldn't understand why they wanted to do it.
I thought Brad Renfo is great in it though.

I preferred bully to kids but I think both of those films are a bit crap.

I'm a huge Bijou fan and my brother bought it for me a while back, so I just wanted to see it cuz of her...but I ended up really liking it. It's one of my favorites ever.

Brad was bOmb in it & I haven't read the book.

the movie, in part, illustrated how disaffected, unparented and bored "kids of today" will engage in just about any activity regardless of it's lack of moral soundness. so, to answer walterboy's question, some of the kids had no reason to participate in the murder...that's what the movie was trying to show us.

I thought it was better than Kids. I've seen each film once, years ago, and I wouldn't want to see Kids again but I do want to see Bully again. Well that didn't make much sense but I'm sure you know what I mean.
I didn't even know it was a book. It's a true story, isn't it?

The first time I saw this movie I was like 15 or something and it scared the hell out of me. But I watched it again and I really like it. It still kinda scares me though, but I think that's because it's a true story and it's scary what people are capable of.

I love Bully & Kids, & I don't really feel they're that comparable. I mean, they share some central themes but they're totally different films.

yeah, its better than kids.

i thought of bully though when i was watching alpha dog. both movies show how stupid kids can be when they get carried away and when a mob of them is involved. they get so caught up in "the plan" and working togethter that they fail to realize how horrible what they are doing is.

dumb assed kids that i hate in both movies doing terrible things.

I didn't understand about the gay stuff in it like the hotlines and Bobby watching gay porn while having sex. Were they secretly in love with each other?

Ooh I have this movie and it's one of my favorites. It's not a crap film at all! It's actually very very engaging and entertaining and the young actors are very good and realistic especially Bijou Phillips (who I was very impressed with because I didn't know she can act so good) and Nick Stahl and Kelli Garner and Michael Pitt. There are a lot of hot guys in this movie. I thought we saw a little too much of Rachel Miner's body though.

Boy those characters were so stupid. I am so entertained by this film! I don't know if it's because it's disturbing or because I find so many parts funny or that I just can't believe those kids could get together and so casually agree to murder someone like that. Some of those kids didn't even know Bobby Kent!

Michael Pitt was hilarious. I was laughing my ass off in the courtroom scene when he was still saying "I don't know what the fuck I'm doing here! I didn't do shit!" and he was the first one to stab the guy and still saying he didn't do anything!

Bully to me is a masterpiece of it's own kind. I just love it. The murder scene is I think the best murder scene I have seen. And the way they were arguing like kids on the beach over who did what was just hysterical. They were fighting like little kids and were so stupid and to go and tell other people. This movie is the shit!

i think the guy they killed was maybe closeted and had a bit of a thing for Renfro's character. that is why he treated him so badly. of course, it is a true story.

on a side note. i guess i am the only one who liked Kids better than Bully. though i would like to sandwich myself in between Michael Pitt and Brad Renfro. i don't think we are that far from seeing Brad whore himself off for one of those gay str8 bait sites where the crackhead boys give it up for some money.

and the porn industry is kind of a happening place in Florida. especially the twinkie porn. so he used him to make money. that is why there was so much of it in the movie. but, i do think he had a thing for Renfro's character. it is implied. though i don't know the actual specifics of the real story.

I read the true story behind the movie a long time ago. I'm trying to remember, but I think that Bobby dude (the bully) allegedly sexually abused his best friend who ended up murdering him. It was part of the whole control/humiliation part of the relationship. The movie was disturbing, but it seemed sort to have holes in it compared to the real story. Like I said, it was a long time ago though.
