it would be realyl hard for me to give it up, for a venture not guaranteed. risking my child's education wouldn;t be taken lightly. i would probably relent, because he seemed so enthusiastic and he's never been one to slack. hes smart and will work hard.

i went through something like this with my husband. i have supported him for a number of years to finish (two) classes and take pre reqs for pharm. it has taken him three years to do that, and one of those years he did nothing but programming, and each day it was extremely difficult to live with him "working" for no money while we were sinking in debt and risking our mortgage and me having to work overtime. he was trying to write a program that woulod make millions, but it ended up being a learning experience only.

so i empathize. but i still would have relented.

I would have problems justifying using my children's education funds...considering they each only had $10,000 and it will cost a hell of a lot more for them to go to college or university...good thing he fell.

i'm not saying i would just be all "sure, go ahead, take it! who cares!", it would be hard, but i felt the way she acted was really strange and uncaring, especially for her character. she did not even consider his position or the possibility. she could have talked to him more but she was straight up "no way, no discussion". their kids are still young, they still have many many years before they go off to college. even if that were not an option, she could have been open to discussing it or wanting to know about his idea and trying to work something out. that was probably the first time in the entire show where i have thought "what a bitch!" about her.

Ariel isn't that young...I think she was just overly stressed with such a personal case.
