| | | Hot Fuzz was brilliant. I'm tempted to go and see it again.
It reminded me of the locals in the pub I worked in over the summer. The completely illegible speech of the 'locals' in Hot Fuzz made me feel at home. I'm from Herefordshire, where folk talk and act exactly like the film said they did. Minus the murder obviously. |

| | | did anyone notice that they used old jokes? or did they do it on purpose as a kind of homage?
ie
buying cornettos
jumping over fences
when shaun is in the winchester and his ladyfriend has dumped him, ed tries to cheer him up by pointing out people and telling shaun stories about them. in hot fuzz they are in the police car and kind of do the same thing...
theres something else as well bit i cant remember
or am i just being a prick? |

They have a habit sticking in a few references to their older stuff. Love that scene with Nick pointing out potential criminals. Nicholas Angel: All right, what about this guy? Ask yourself, why has he got his hat pulled down like that? Danny Butterman: He's fuck-ugly. Nicholas Angel: Or, he doesn't want you to see his face. Danny Butterman: 'Cause he's fuck-ugly!

| | | I liked it! I've started watching Spaced again, it's where it all started for a lot of things- Green Wing, Shaun of The Dead, and Hot Fuzz. |

they do reuse jokes, but in a cute self-referential way. it's not exactly the same so it doesn't get boring. it's perfectly believable that characters in different films might buy cornettos after all.. |

| | ah I really miss Spaced! Hot Fuzz was great, a comedy that actually makes you laugh out loud, quite a unique thing these days. I'd say its twice as good as Shaun of The Dead but that might just be because I prefer weird rural folk to zombies |

| | bump Just saw it. It was hilarious! (I still like Shaun of the Dead a bit better, but this was still awesome).
I loved the whole Illuminati Serial Mom council who end up going Rambo. (also they sort of reminded me of Carole Kane's psycho character in "Office Killer" - the bodies in the storm sewer like the ones she kept in her attic) |

| | | My new goal is to introduce Spaced to everyone I know in America. Stupid jackoffs haven't released it here, but I have my illegally downloaded DVDs and am armed with them wherever I go. "Oh you liked Hot Fuzz, did you? Well, here's something new for ya. . ." |
