little miss sunshine is quite an uplifting film
hope you feel better.

| | dont laugh, cause its not nearly as typical and cheesy as you think, but:
'young at heart' with doris day and frank sinatra.
sure, doris sings and wears pink and loves her family. but theres a really good darkness going on in it, and it makes it actually pretty wise. even if you hate frank , he was truly so awesome in this. the most unlikely film ever, but i just love it. |

| | | you might think that these are weird suggestions, but these films make me feel unbelievably happy:
the royal tenenbaums
the life aquatic
shaun of the dead
garden state (although i think ive watched it one too many times. still quite "uplifting" though)
chocolat
amelie, of course
almost famous
breakfast at tiffany's
and yes, me and you and everyone we know is a really good one too. |

| | Thankyou for the well wishes. And yeah, I watched Little Miss Sunshine last week, it is lovely. I love Toni Collette, especially Muriel's Wedding and In Her Shoes. Sweet sweet Toni.
I think I would go throught with it. I never thought I would being generally a believer in 'your past shapes you', but when it gets to the point where you don't like who you are...then the past needs to be adressed.
And Primavera, I can't watch Breakfast At Tiffany's as (and this will probably get me strung up) having read and loved beyond measure Capote's book first, I don't think Hepburn does it justice.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Quote: |

I actually used Eternal Sunshine to sustain me through it but my last viewing forced me to admit that there were no transcendent, precious moments that would compel me to change my mind if I did undergo the procedure... Like I can think of another relationship that was much more painful, much more of a loss but there are so many beautiful moments attached that I would never consider erasing it. But this recent one, I realize was just a waste of time and energy and a humiliating illustration of my low self-esteem. Not that he isn't a gifted and good-hearted person but he just never cared enough for me, and I probably never cared for him in the right way either. Except if I did erase him maybe I would just make the same crappy mistake again so it probably wouldn't be worth it... but I just hate knowing how much time and energy I wasted, if I erased him I could forget that but then I'd be depressed that I was apparently dateless for years, for no known reason.
Eternal Sunshine was the first movie I thought of when I entered this thread, another one is Shopgirl. |
