You just wanted to perve on Natalie Portman. ADMIT IT!

She's the only thing I like in the prequels. The rest is SHITE. And woo for the original trilogy. <3

oh, she's hot, no doubt, but I don't want to see her acting like a pathetic asshole in love, I want to see her in rebel gear shooting stormtroopers.

I liked lots of the prequels because I read star wars books when I was younger and still had questions.

She seemed to me to be about 15. Which made it ridiculous that she was elected. Making her an unexpectingly young member of the royal family would have made more sense with the casting.

I didn't, not that I wasn't enough of a geek. Which is why I didn't know until the later movies came out that the stormtroopers are supposed to be clones. When I saw the first movie, I remember that I thought about whatever Obi-Wan said about the weak-minded when he did the 'These aren't the...' thing. I thought about it, and I thought about what makes someone a stormtrooper, or a nazi, or whatever, and what makes someone a person who fights them. It seems hollow to know that they just weren't people - I realize it's not fair, but it bothers me.

i barely made it through episode one.
i laughed during episode two because i just found anakin to be really creepy even though i kept hearing how hayden had this wonderful chemistry with natalie. wtf ever. he looked like he wanted to eat her face.
i own episode three but haven't watched it yet.

my mister owns a toys from when empire & return of the jedi came out.

nah. maybe one day when I'm really bored.

For now I just wanted to say that I do think the "falling in love" scene between padme and annakin was the fucking most horrible, most cliched love scene that I have ever witnessed. Fireplace, picnic in the rolling hills, WTF? Can't george lucas subcontract out the love scenes if he's that uninspired? I liked the story of Han solo and Leia. sexual tension. :loves it:
padme and annakin are fuckin saps.

I may have to bring back my leia avatar on account of this thread.

I will ask you ("the pirate") if you have seen that triumph the insult comic dog bit and everyone in the thread generally if they have seen the mistranslations of the movie?

i think 10 years..anakin was about 10 in episode 1 and padme was about 17 i think.

my favorites are:

EP 2 Clone Wars and Empire Strikes Back, i like how both had the element conflict between good and evil and the love between Anakin/Padme..Solo/Lea

Ep 3 Revenge of the Sith and The Return of The Jedi both dealt with loss in some ways Anakin's loss of Padme and Luke's dad. both movies correlate a transition, Anakin becoming Darth and Luke finally becoming a Jedi

Thanks! That does make me feel better about it.

Watching the old ones after seeing the one that came out last year made Obi-Wan look a little less wise, and I guess a little more human (not necessarily a bad thing) to me. The other bit of his dialog that was seriously changed for me after the newer movies was "He's more man than machine now.' Yes, I completely understand that this refers to more than the physical, but knowing that it was Kenobi who personally removed Anakin's last three three organic limbs and left him for dead (and yes, I completely understand that he had to do this), combined with the bitchy tone Guinness puts on the line reading, makes me think of kids grabbing other kids hand and smacking them while yelling 'Why are you hitting yourself!'

iamaposeur, I don't have them any more, but I was given a 12-inch Princess Leia doll and a toy lightsaber for Christmas, 1977.

aww you'll get better trust me

i played the first Battlefront when it first came out, it was awesome but i like battlefront 2 better, love the space missions and the galactic conquest feature so much better than the first battlefront and the fact that you can get upgrades on your weapons after earning points

in may i add THE BEST MOVE EVER.

i love the fact that that Qui-Gon at some point in Obi's training said "right, if there's someone jumping at you and you've got the high ground, here's how to remove all their limbs in one go..."
