Because I love Kaufman. I love him! I love everyone in this movie! I love the parody, and the screen writing inside a screen writing inside a screen writing, and the... everything! It's just... such a mind fuck in the most realistic of ways, like everything he does. And it's hilarious. Watching Meryl Streep snort drugs and listen to the dial tone made me have one of the heartiest laughs I've had in a long time. One of those laughs that just keeps going with no effort. And I actually liked Nicolas Cage. I never knew that! And the Being John Malkovich behind-the-scenes, sort of not behind-the-scenes concept, it was just incredible.

It's just fantastic. Absolutely un.... something. I just saw it so wait for the praise to wear off a bit, then I'll converse.

There's nothing like this... other than other Kaufman scripts.

It's a life goal now:
I want to play Boggle with Catherine Keener.

This movie fucking owns. Really beautiful in a way I can't really convey to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Incidentally, it's actually Adaptation., with a full stop. No idea why.

I did not like the movie until about nine months ago...although I think I bought it when it was released on DVD. It's really good and I think Ophiel did a good job of describing the beauty of the film. I can't really describe it either.

But I love it.

so many scenes that really moved me, like meryl streep talking about jealous of the orchid guy because he wants something so much. i forgot the line but that scene was heartbreaking, when she goes to the bathroom in the middle of the dinner. god, i wanna see this again. i think i prefer it to being john malkovich.

My favourite line was the one that he quoted himself a couple of times in the movie.

It ends as "...a little fantastic and fleeting and out of reach." When she's in the swamp at the end of the book looking for the ghost.

i felt so dumb when last summer when i did research for this movie for a class and found out daniel wasn't a real person.

ps - most people in that class didn't like it - too confusing.

I think Adaptation is one of those movies people pretend to like so that they sound intelligent and artistic, like Mulholland Drive.

perhaps. but not everybody pretends to like it. some people actually do.

Yes, but HCH is under the impression that everything he feels is the truth and everyone else is just living in illusion and lies.

Plus, Mulholland Drive blew me away, long before I knew it was all art-scene-y.
