| | | Please, please, please let this be Peter O'Toole's year. I don't care how good Forrest Whitaker is in The Last King Of Scotland, I just want Peter to win his first competitive Oscar.

| | | Dreamgirls missed out?
I'm trying to follow the posts from Oscarwatch.com but they're so over excited that a lot of the posts aren't making sense.
EDIT: Yay for Peter! It's going to be hard to beat Whitaker though. Surely they can't deny a sick old legend for the ninth time.

| | | Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy got best supporting nods I think, but that's it - but it will probably get one for best song.
Best Picture noms are: The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, Letters From Iwo Jima, Babel and The Queen
And if my memory serves me correctly the same all were nominated best director apart from the director of LMS and instead Paul Greengrass is nominated for United 93.
It's another Scorsese/ Eastwood fight! |

| | | I really hope Meryl Streep wins, but that is some fierce competition. I would have thought her character in The Devil Wears Prada would have gone under as best supporting actress, but I really do think Meryl made that role and the whole film her own. |

| | | I didn't know Pan's Labyrinth was Mexican. It's been nominated for so many things I feel compelled to watch it now. But that's just nationalistic loyalties. I doubt I will see any of the other ones that I haven't seen already. I wonder if Al Gore will win? |

| | | wtf @ dreamgirls getting three nominations in original song.
i cant believe a movie staring beyonce, eddie murphy and an american idol reject gets that many nominations... though i havent seen it (and i dont plan on it), the clips ive seen has been involuntarily hilairous.
im really not surprised, well besides volver not getting a nomination for best foreign film... |

The Queen & Pan's Labyrinth are about all I've seen for this year, but I really liked both of them. I understand Streep really stole the show in Prada, but I'd like to see Mirren get it.

I wonder if it was funded by a Mexican production company? I guess I'd have to look at the eligibility rules.
I was also surprised about Volver. It;s been my favorite movie in years. Penelope deserves that Oscar but won't get it. Streep doesn't deserve a nomination. I mean, that movie was fluff...and while it was funny and enjoyable, it doesn't mean it merits any awards. UGH AND DREAMGIRLS
I don't know why I care. I never agree with the academy because they love stuff about old dead people or from big directors or very politically correct stuff. |

| | | It won't, Eternal Sunshine didn't, Citizen Cane didn't even, I highly doubt Little Miss Sunshine will.
But it's just the Oscars. It has to have made the most money to be good. OBVIOUSLY.
And let me just say this:
What the fuck is with Abigail Breslin being nominated for a supporting role!? She's practically the star of the damned film!
