Alias

Was there an Alias thread here before the hack? I never watched it when it was on tv, but have watched all five seasons since last summer.

Just finished watching season 5 last night, and I'm now in Sidney Bristow withdrawal. Sort of a disappointing ending. It felt very rushed, and it didn't make sense how Irina and Arvin ended up being pure 100% evil.

Why wasn't Irina's "truth takes time" riddle ever resolved?

Seasons 1 and 2 were stellar, except for the one scene where Irina, Jack and Sydney are machine-gunning together. Seasons 3-5 had their great moments, but never reclaimed the greatness of the first two. But the ending just didn't do the show justice.

Any other fans of this show? What did you think of the finale?

demonscars is on a distinguished road
I don't think anyone is really happy with the way it ended. It was actually a pretty decent episode but it could have been so much more. Abrams was doing MI3 and his notoriously short attention span had him pretty much absent. And it felt rushed because it was. ABC cancelled it and basically was like "alright we'll let you finish out the season". So kinda halfway through the season they had to do a 180 and tie up all the outstanding plotlines, not to mention in season 5 they'd been trying not to use Sydney as much due to Jennifer Garner's pregnancy. So they really did rush the ending. Also I believe the reasons the last 3 seasons as a whole weren't as good as the first two was that they were giving in to network pressures a lot more about being too complicated and the network really hated everything Rambaldi.

Thanks for that. It sucks that he wasn't able to do the show the way he wanted and eventually just lost interest.

I hope the same thing doesn't happen with "Lost". I have a feeling that the "Others" are that show's Rambaldi, kind of like making it up as he goes along.

Oh no! Sorry for not adding the spoiler alert, but thankfully I didn't reveal too much.

I always thought Alias was a poor man's version of La Femme Nikita (not the movie the series) and I just love Peta Wilson far too much to tolerate..um...damn what's her name?

Never watched that show (La Femme Nikita), but I did like the movie.

I like Jennifer Garner though. She's pretty cool and a good actress (except when she did the lame foreign accents - I never figured out if that was supposed to be tounge-in-cheek).

La Femme is better. Peta was actually believable most of the time when she was in disguises.

i've jsut finished watching all of alias after wanting to get hold of it for years. (i didn't have very good tv reception in my old flat and would forget to DL it)

i LOVED it.
i am disappointed with teh way they fucked it up but seriously season 3-5 weren't that bad. i was also very happy with the ending of sydney and vaughn (hello MV is HOT) though they way they gunned him down NO WAY he'd have survived IRL>

but the show requires suspension of disbelief. they travel around the world on missions with no jet lag and their flights seem to take 20mins to get there!

but i loved the acting of jennifer garner, i have newfound respect for her after seeing alias.

yes season 5 was a bit of a rushed ending whcih sucks but the woman deserved her maternity leave. i didn't like that irina was also pure evil as well. but it made sense and yeah not everything was tied up but i still found it a good ending..sark still roaming around. sydneya nd vaughn on an island/beach house that is hard to find, having a normal life after being 2nd generation spy kids (with her mum killing his dad who was trying to hide her sister!)./

the andre michaux thing was dumb though...i mean to retroactively say that vaugn deliberately asked for sidney when he didn't know who she was? i doubt it, especially when you go back tot he pilot, he was a junior officer, she got him promoted so he could continue to be her handler.

i'm, having severe withdrawals :-(

la femme is good i'm only up to season 2 but i find it darker in a way that unsettles me, because nikita is trapped way more that sydney, the organisation is far more insiduously evil. she can't escape. sydney has more opportunities to stop whereas the org will kill nikita.

don't you love though how both handlers on those two shows are called michael both have a french background IRL and both are HOT?

i loved alias. especially when sidney threw down with some fellow females like her friend who was someone else and the other woman who became her for a while and then her sister and finally, her mom. pretty good show, if a bit ridiculous.

La Femme is darker and I think it's over all much better. Then again, I may be biased because I find Peta Wilson much more interesting than Jennifer Garner. I also love Roy Dupius. That stone cold face he gives throughout the show can give you the impression that he's a one trick pony. But if you watch when he gets to play a character other than Michael, watch out. He's a pretty good actor and funny to boot.

Wait until you get further into the seasons. My aunt became a fan of the show thru me so I've been buying her each season every xmas. I finally decided to borrow them and went thru Seasons 1-3 rather quickly. I had almost forgotten how good this show was. Xmas isn't here yet and I'm tempted to buy her season 4 so I can get on with it!
