He's never done the show here so it's big thing to get tickets.....a lot of requests for them and not everyone got an email so I was just floored when I got it. I'm ditching class and getting there early.......if you're not there early there's a chance they'll give away your spot. |

| | I'm from Chicago too but I don't love him much but I love seeing a Chicago thread once in a while.
I would rather see Corgan but I go to his high school here in Carol Stream and he is always around in Chicago...it is funny that no one else who goes to his school cares he went to it. |

bah, I went to the same school that Ernest Hemingway went to and no one cares about that. If no one at my school cares about Hemingway, I'm not shocked that no one there cares about Corgan.
I've met him, decent guy. |

| | | went to the show tonight!!! So good! He's been giving Chicago a lot of love all week.....to the point where I think the people watching who don't live in Chicago really don't get a lot of the jokes in the monologue.
BTW, was waiting in the line to see him and it was so cold and rainy. Then, an amazing thing happens....suddenly there is this tall, lanky, pale man with a mop of red hair who gets up on a car or something with a megaphone. It's Conan! The entire line goes batshit......he says something to the effect of "You guys have been great to us all week, you've been giving us a lot of love not to mention waiting in the cold and wet. We have ordered pizza for the entire line from Unos (legendary pizza place in Chicago). Thank you so much for a great week." Everyone in line (probably over 1,000 people at that point...the entire Chicago Theatre holds 3,800 people) got a free slice of hot, deep dish pizza and Conan went up and down the line shaking hands. Conan, you rock.

| | | ok, since the show has aired I can say this.
As a Chicagoan, this was the weirdest thing I've ever experienced: In the final Chicago show, La Bamba dressed up as the Empire Carpet guy, all 3,800 people in the Chicago Theatre sung the Empire Carpet song on national television.
This will make no sense to anyone outside of Chicago (or anyone who hasn't grown up here). In fact, a lot of the jokes from the show this week were very Chicago centered to that point. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
