| | | I really liked it, and I'm a big wuss. I watched some of it through my fingers. And I headed for the ladies room when the doctor took out the bone saw (I did have to go anyway), although I'm informed by Mr. Wildwoman that I didn't miss anything. The cheek scene freaked me out. But it was a good character bit.
What do people think about the use of repetition? I noticed it a few times: “This is your daily bread, in Franco’s Spain….” And the torture speech – he was clearly going to do the whole thing again when he got blindsided. Connected to fairy tales, maybe? Simple, repetitive – and, now that I think of it, both those speeches pretty much were fairy tales, in the sense of being totally made up.
And this is just about my sheltered-ness or whatever, but I haven’t really seen that many non-English language films. Neither Mr. Wildwoman nor I speak Spanish, but of course you pick up words (especially living in and around NYC), and there are some things that sound almost the same, so the dialog for us was this odd mix of sounds with the occasional understandable word popping up.

| | | I loved how the Faun spoke. I was told he was speaking in old somewhat rustic Spanish. It was different than the other characters. I liked that. |

| | I saw it last night and I liked it, but I still prefer Devil's Backbone. I was disappointed that the childeater had such a small part because the image was used/hyped so much, but it's just as well since the faun was so amazing to look at and hear. I also loved the giant toad and the insects.
The subtitles did not bother me, plus I speak a bit of Spanish so it was nice to see that I have not forgotten everything. |

| | | I love this film. Spoilers
The second test where she goes into that place with the tall guy with eyes on his hands gave me the willies from the get go. And I just loved how fucking amazing this film played out. It was never once hoaky.
My mum is unrecommending it to people, hahaha. Probably because of that one scene where he smashed the kid's face in with the beer bottle.

| | the child/baby eater was awesome, i do agree that it/he had a small part on the movie, regardless what a scary mofo!! when i was a kid i was told stories about a creature that resembled a man/moster that would eat children if you misbehaved
the whole scene with him/it popping its eyes on its hands was neat, the tips of its fingers were almost like eyelashes cause they were black and then it chasing Ofelia was scary but done very well. |

| | | whats wrong with me that i really didn't find it to be all that violent?
well, no more so than say a tarantino type flick, and i've never really 'covered' up for those
i know they are completely different just pointing out the level of violence |

| | | I didn't think it was that violent of a film. It definately had some cringworthy scenes that I would say are in the same way similar to that of Silence of the Lambs or other films of that nature.

| | | I loved it. My friend thought it was too violent but loved it. I think this might be one that even people who are not accustomed to subtitled films can enjoy if for nothing but the visuals. The plot is easy enough to follow even if you miss some of the text due to just watching the screen. |

| | | I thought it was amazing. I found it a bit funny that like 15 people left the cinema when they saw it was subtitled, I guess that's multiplex culture for you.. |
