| margaret cho isn't funny at all I was watching a Joan Rivers special and TV, and her stand-up is really good.
Next up was Margaret Cho. I've heard a lot about her but never actually seen her show or read her books. Her sitcom was a little before my time, but I heard that sucked anyway.
So ten minutes in, fifteen, twenty minutes, half an hour in...this woman is supposed to be funny?
She can't write decent material. Notice her act consists entirely of supposedly funny situations. Like her two drag queen friends from high school...ok fine, but you still have to make jokes. Talking about sex isn't funny on it's own no matter how graphic you can be. Joan was graphic too, but her material was just so much stronger.
Sadly, the only semi-funny thing in Margaret Cho's act is when she does an impersonation of her mother. And even that's kind of cheap.
She's proof that if you're liberal enough, you'll have fans regardless of how talentless you happen to be. Gay men will latch on to you as a sort of den mother. |
