I saw this movie on tv and it's unbearable. It's like eating paper. It's so ordinary and there is nothing remotely interesting about this film. Not even David Bowie.

This movie is so pretentious and it tries too hard that it ends up being a mockery of all the people it's portraying and the artistic movement of the time. That's what I would call it, a mockery.

Very bad movie.

i rented "absolute beginners" and it was one of the most horrible musicals i've ever seen. i was hoping that because bowie was on the dvd cover he'd be in it longer, but he was only in it for maybe 10 minutes. he did do the movie theme and had his own number so it wasn't a complete waste of time.

but yeah "basquiat" is pretty horrible. i really hated the pseudo artsy fartsy shit. bowie's horrendous warhol impression was amusing. also there's this slut called courtney something or another in it who was whining about a scarf.

after five minutes of the movie had passed, I realized that the only thing that would actually be interesting is to see Courtney's seen. But then I got incredibly bored and distressed and I had to change the channel. Then I've caught the movie on several occasions and I just see it hoping to see Courtney's cameo but I can only last like 30 minutes.

I've seen the movie on 30 minute intervals. That's how bad it us. Unfortunately I've missed Courtney's bit every time.

i saw it once during a bout with insomnia because there was nothing else on tv. it sounded interesting.

The shots move faster than the dialogue, which is lame, but now you dont have to sit through it again if you hate it so much.
