Britney Srearsat The Centre Of Child Welfare Probe.

The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) are to investigate BRITNEY SPEARS after pictures were taken of her driving through Malibu, California with her baby son on her lap.

Spears claimed she took off without putting her son SEAN PRESTON in his rear babyseat because she was suddenly hounded by paparazzi during a coffee break.

But the DCFS and California police officials are taking a very dim view of Spears' decision to drive off with her baby on her lap.

It is illegal under California law to drive with a child as young as Sean Preston not restrained in a recognised baby seat, and Britney can expect a $270 (£150) fine at the very least.

Malibu Deputy Sheriff MARK WINN visited Spears at home yesterday afternoon (07FEB06), to set the wheels in motion for the DCFS investigation.

Britney's son Sean rushed to hospital

Sm17cover Star Magazine is reporting that Britney Spears' son Sean Preston was taken to the hospital on April 7th. He had fallen out of the high chair a few days earlier and was sleeping a lot, so they brought him to the hospital to have it checked out. It turned out he had a minor skull fracture (sometimes called a "scalp fracture" in babies), and a blood clot. Two of our sources confirm that this does seem to be the case, despite the tabloid reporting of Star, so we're posting this under the news category.

The following day, the Department of Children and Family Services began looking into the incident. L.A. Sheriff's deputies visited Britney's Malibu home to investigate a child-abuse claim. (California law requires that Department of Children and Family Services be notified whenever a baby is brought into the hospital with a serious injury.) TMZ reports that the matter is now closed. They initially said the DCFS had visited on the 8th to finish up reports regarding Sean's lap ride in February.

The photo used on the cover is NOT from the trip to the hospital. They were taken back in January when Britney and Sean visited a Hindu temple.

I read that they took him a family doctor after it happened but that doctor said nothing was wrong. Then they noticed him sleeping a lot & went to the hospital. Sucks to be Sean P.

Well, obviously we don't know what really happened, but that car thing, there are pictures and I don't see how you could defend her for that. She didn't want her son to have his photo taken? Why did she sell the first pictures of him for a nice amount of $$$ then? She only doesn't mind his picture being taken when she can get money from it? Not to mention that I'd rather have my son's picture being taken than risk his life, no?
