Your favourite Friends are back...

http://www.hollywood.com/news/detail/id/3477372

HOLLYWOOD - Seminal sitcom Friends is returning to television after each of its six stars agreed multi-million dollar deals to star in four one-hour specials.
In a secret meeting before Christmas, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry reportedly agreed a $5 million apiece deal with NBC bosses in Los Angeles.

Scriptwriters have already started penning lines for the four double episodes, which are due to air next year.

Aniston, who has filmed a string of movies since the final Friends episode, was the last to agree to the new deal.

An NBC insider says, "She's the one who had been holding out. But she's now agreed to reprise Rachel (Green).

"Bringing them back is a dream come true. Ratings will go through the roof."

Network bosses have also hinted at a second spin-off of the hit comedy, following the disappointing performance of Matt LeBlanc's show Joey. The new program will see the three male stars--Perry, Schwimmer and LeBlanc--pilot a series called It's A Guy Thing.

An NBC spokesperson confirms, "Negotiations on future projects are going on all the time."

Sorry if this is old news or if a topic has been already - I had a look but I couldnt find any.

I really don't know what to think about this, I adored Friends - and I still watch the re-runs! But reunions just seems so stupid, they should just leave it, it had a nice promising ending. Of course I'll still watch it and completly crack up.

And ANOTHER spin off? C'mon people learn from Joey - it sucked.

This is in fact really old news, and at the time it "got out" was labelled "false" by Kudrow.
It in fact wasn't Anniston who didn't want to do it, it was Perry.
The second spin off was also part of the last false rumor. (earlier this year)
So I doubt it's true, I'm SO not getting my hopes up.

I think this is pretty recent news.

I think spin-offs fucking suck. Especially this one with only the guys in it that's supposedly in the pipeline. There's only so many times you can flog a dead horse.
And do we really need MORE male chauvinism in television? (not that I'm saying it definitely WILL be chauvinistic...but come on. let's face it. it probably will be.)

I think I definitely would have watched a Phoebe spin-off. I love Lisa Kudrow. I think she's a million times better than Anuston. Lisa's character in The Comeback makes me cringe in a way that only David Brent had ever previously achieved.

The only spin off that I can think of that is better than its original is Frasier, I loved that. I'de rather they just left the whole idea and not taint the greatness of which it was!

me too.

though i hated how they turned her more dumb blonde than weird towards the end and pretty much cut out her entire 'musical' career - they need to make a compilation of phoebe songs.

phoebe was definitely the best character.

Yeah, I agree. I idolised her weirdness when I was 13-15 (sad, I know).

Bet it's shit. I liked Friends and all, but if it's done its dash, it's done its dash. You don't need to obsessively revisit the past just for the sake of doing so, and I think too many US shows don't realise this. Reunion shows are grotesque.

Compare this to when Doctor Who came back; regardless of whether people like it or hate it, it had attempted to evolve and change for the times. It wasn't a shameless reunion show. Good.

I caught that for the first time the other night. It was a bit of a rip-off of certain other shows, but still worth a laugh. I'd watch it for a dollar.

i never understood the appeal of friends. the writing isnt anything special, the plotlines are recycled from seinfeld and various romantic comedy movies.

wtf is with friends?
