| | | I'm a big fan of his work. I love Boogie Nights and Magnolia, and I like PDL and Hard Eight a lot as well.
I think Boogie Nights and Magnolia were both big-time Altman rip-offs, but Altman is pretty much my favourite director, so I'll forgive him. Steal from the best.
Just checked up on his next project, and it sounds interesting, "There will be blood", about oil scandals in 1920s USA. Sounds interesting to me, at any rate.
Still not totally convinced the whole "frogs" thing was a good idea, but I'd say it pretty much worked. |

| | | i remember watching this and not being terribly impressed. it's probably his flimsiest movie to date and adam sandler, bless him for trying, is just really annoying. the cinematography is ace though.
and yeah, paul thomas anderson pretty much apes robert altman, especially in magnolia. but that's not a bad thing. one's gotta give notice to hard eight which was another strong movie. |

I guess they figured that if Altman did pop his cogs, they might as well have someone on hand who could stay "true to his vision" or somesuch. |
