Pet Food: Wet or Dry??

Which do you feed your dog and/or cat? Why?

Back home we fed both my cat and dog dry food and always have. Now, along with my new cat man I was given wet food and dry food by his foster mother. He eats two tbsp dry in the morning and again at night, then a small scoop of dry as a snack in the afternoon.

The thing is... I HATE wet cat food. The smell, the texture, the way it attracts fruit flies. The other morning I actually barfed after feeding him (mind you a was slightly hung over)

He seems to like the dry food better anyways, so I was thinking of just saying no to wet cat food forever. Or maybe just give it to him as a treat every few days.

What are the reasons for feeding your cat wet food?

I think when they are older it is better to mix wet and dry.
I mix three types of dry science diet for Buckley and add fish oil on top to help with allergies he gets in his eyes and ears.

Our other cat had a similar mix.

I always gave Rémy dry food, partly because wet food smell made me gag (too meaty) and I didn't want to leave half empty meaty cans in the fridge, but mostly because dry food is better for kitty teeth.

He got pouches of wet food once in a while as a treat.

(past tense because I don't know what my friend prefers to feed him)

wet is better for cats bc they get the majority of the water in their diet from food, not drinking.

it helps prevent uti's, etc.

dogs, idk.

buzz's normal food is dry.

but ever since leroy came along, she gets jealz of the wet food, so now she gets that too.

Depends on your cats preference. Monkey doesn't over eat, so I always have dry food in the bowl for him at all times, he's not on a schedule which makes it easy for me. He gets wet food once a day, either morning or at night. If he doesn't ask for it in the morning he'll make sure to remind me in the evening that it's wet food time. I also skeeve wet cat food, so I get him the small cans of fancy feast so that there isn't any left overs that stink up.
