i feed mine wet food only as a treat occasionally. there is a variety of fancy feast that has egg in it that she goes nuts over.

otherwise, she eats iams dry food. i've had her for 5 years and she's eaten that the whole time. she's certainly not deprived because she's fat as ****.

i see wet food as a treat for them (though my cat in her old age can't handle it anymore...gives her terrible diarrhea). she can only eat one type of iams (the hairball control). any other food also gives her the runs. she also has very lovely non-stinky breath and the vet has always praised her good teeth. it's all due to the dry food.

how ARE you supposed to keep your cat's teef strong if they don't eat dry food?

i read somewhere you can toss them a slab of raw meat to gnaw on.

but i don't really have a SANITARY AREA FOR THAT.

cats are carnivores, dogs omnivores and thus have different protein type and carb needs. whatever type of food you buy should reflect those basic needs and any nutritional deficiencies your pet might have.

and.

most commercial foods are filled w/ grain filler. even wet food.

corn is the worst.

and lots of the cheap grocery store stuff has unknown meat sources in it. (ie horse and euthanized pets.) right in the ingredients list. it will just say "meat" and "meat-by-products." but not tell you which animal it came from.

i did a research thing on this for skool once.

fda lets pet food companies get away w/ some gross ****.
