Unhappy Two of my cats got lost on Friday night..

..and I am losing my mind.

We just moved from Colorado to California a month ago, from an 1100 square foot house in the country to a 550 square foot apartment in the city. It's been a major adjustment for me, I can only imagine how it's been going for them. Friday night they knocked a screen out in the living room and have been gone since. For some reason my third cat stayed, although her paws were dirty making me believe she ventured out and then changed her mind. She woke me and my husband up early Saturday morning and our searching and panic began. I don't know what to do. We've been searching on foot day and night, I've gone crazy posting lost cat ads anywhere I can find on the internet, and we've saturated the area with flyers (even though some piece of **** has taken a bunch of them down - I guess they'll just have to live with that). The closest animal shelter is closed on Sunday and Monday, so we went and at least filed a lost report with the second closest one.

I just feel so incredibly helpless and like I've been sucker punched. EVERYTHING has been so, so ****ty for like two years now, and a situation like this has always been my worst case scenario. And now it's happened. My cats are my children, my family, my little furry friends. I am beside myself with fear and anxiety. We've had sightings of one of them four times now, but have been unsuccessful in catching him. We got a call last night and went down to investigate and my husband was able to get a bit closer to him, but he ended up running off anyway. He looks like he's injured one of his legs and is moving a bit slower, so maybe he will give in and come home soon. At least that is what I am hoping for. The other one.. We haven't seen or had any calls regarding him at all. I don't know if he's just scared and hiding, or if someone took him in, or something awful happened. This whole thing is just horrible.

So now that I've vented, what are your experiences with lost cats? How did you find them, or did they end up finding you? How long did it take? I really need some words of encouragement right now.

i will pray on a candle for your kats.

maybe leave some stinky tuna outside.

or leave your doors wide open so they can sneak in in the night.

Any update?

I remember when one of the cats I lived went missing. It wasn't a nice time.
